I'd like to see new blood at the top.

CHS will NEVER fire Weiner. They'll probably ask him to step down and give him cush job.

I know both guys.. both are great coaches... and both are great to their kids...

and both receive far too much criticism from their schools.

as NEITHER school had the sustained success they did - before that coaches arrival.

This isn't a comment on Weiner personally.

He is a very good man and has done tremendous things for the CHS football program.

That being said, even under those circumstances sometimes a change is warranted.

Why?

It's really not difficult to understand.

defending his body of work to no end and calling for his head in the next breath should be easy to understand? Forgive me

Yeah.

Time changes things.

See Bobby Bowden. Great body of work but it was past time to step down.

It happens all the time in sports.

Weiner did great things for CHS but its probably past time to pass the torch.

Well this thread went to shite for the most part, however, I definitely agree it's just time for a change at the top. It's just time for something new and fresh. Everyone knows Weiner's gameplan before he takes the field, it's just getting ridiculously easy to defeat him.

#3, the running back for Catholic has 240 yards last week against Denham despite Weiner doing nothing but handing off to him EVERY play. That proves the talent is there, they just need some fresh playcalling and a new system.

Lester may be right that Catholic wasn't a premier Louisiana program, but that doesn't mean that Catholic hasn't underachieved. They have had loads of talent that were plenty good enough to have won at least ONE state championship, and were probably good enough to have won 2 or 3.

And as much as I would hate to see Catholic have to get rid of Weiner because of how much he has done for the school and how great of a guy he is, it needs to be done.

However, I don't think Weiner is the reason the team is under-performing this year. The team has 4 or 5 stud athletes, but other than that they are undersized and not nearly as talented as teams in the past.

96 would have easily beaten 06, no matter what Weiner said that year to make the 06 team feel good.

06 w9ould have a easier time scoring on 96 than 96 scoring on 06 due to 06's D

So it appears that CHS is slightly better than Rummel. But pretty much the same

that's skewed because while there were no wildcards, rummel was in the catholic league with 5 other big time teams plus de la salle and chalmette while catholic had to be in an easier BR district

Its funny, CHS plays Rummel in a scrimmage every year. in 06 we beat the dog shite out of them and they made it to the semis that year as well. Think they beat Ricky and ESJ to get there. Its the year Johnny owens broke his league in the first quarter

Supposedly PJ Longeran was on the field. Never noticed

There QB was a really good D2 QB as well. He wasnt anything special or anything I can remember from that day.

IMHO he has done less with more talent than alot of coaches. A few baton Rouge coaches probaly would have won 1-2 state titles in his time period.
