They still had no passing game. The fact that no CHS QB has ever thrown for 2,000 yards in a season is pretty embarrassing.
Oliver was the first to do so.
CHS RB talent > CHS QB talent./
Thats the way it has always been except when Oliver was the QB his junior and senior seasons.
Catholic had a D1/D1AA RB for every year from 1990 to 2008, except 1999. Cant say the same about QBs

How many West Monroe or John Curtis quarterbacks have thrown for 2,000 yards? How many state title/state title game appearances do those teams have?

This was true except for maybe recent years with Oliver. But I still believe that Weiner has always under-utilized the passing game.
ETA: at least for my years at Catholic (07-11)

Jermaine Hatch went to Ga.Tech

Coach Weiner isn't the problem. Once garidel left our defense has gone to shite. Since when does catholic score 45 in a playoff game and lose? Last year vs st aug 55-45. I think the past couple years we've given up close to 30 points a game

I think that has more to do with the loss of Martin than Garidel.

1999 season though. Some Boudreaux kid? He did rush for 1000+ though.

You're right. When Martin took over as DC our D was still pretty solid, went to the semis. Then he goes to u high and we suck
Coach Martin was running Garidels system.
There are good defensive coaches at CHS right now. Just alot of young kids and the kids may not be as talented as years before.
Garidel had a way of lighting a fire under your arse. Coach Hood and Martin as well. They used to call out the best players on the team, no holds bar.
In '05, Coach Hood called out one of our DEs for having the worst game of his career against dutchtown (he still dominated

Strongsafety what was your number at catholic? I think I was a sophomore when you were a senior

I didn't play football, but my friends that did told me that Martin was a great coach, even though he seemed like a douche to me. They have told me that Harrison, who is the new DC isn't nearly as good as Martin.

What year did you graduate?

Martin was a great coach, when he became dc he kept garidels system and it worked. Harrison has changed the defense completely. No more nickel D like garidel it's an "over" scheme that is pretty good vs run but leaves holes in pass D. Also lack of talent in the secondary contributes to it.

'11, thought you may have graduated with my brother in '08.

The imfamous "base nickel" was really just 4-3 with the Willie sliding out and playing NB. but yea i dont htink we ever lied our Sam over the TE. the front 4 changed their looks alot though. I could be wrong though.
