A top 5 team? No. But I have no doubt he could win the Big 10 West on a regular basis and put competitive teams in the conference championship game. Doesn’t matter, though. Trev won’t consider him because he doesn’t match “the integrity and morals of this great state.” They’ll end up with Klieman or Leipold and winning 6-8 games a year and be complaining 5 years from now about it

Totally inaccurate. I don’t know one single Nebraska fan who thinks that. All we want is to be winning the West and competing for the conference championship on a regular basis, which isn’t all that hard to do considering the teams in the West.

No chance he goes to Lincoln- Arizona State much more likely / but I think he stays retired - not sure he wants to coach in the NIL world

I think Urban can get them to compete for B1G titles but not sure we could get them to the playoffs.

I don’t think Jesus Christ taking over and healing their injured by laying hands on them could make them a top 5 program again.

Nebraska needs to go back the the wishbone. They could get the best option rb every year and defenses don't see it anymore. There is no draw for a top wr and qb to go to Lincoln...the days are gone when Nebraska was a draw to recruits bc they were on tv all the time...everyone plays on tv now.

this exactly. LOL at thinking he would take a dead and floundering has-been and make them a top 5 program. His stints at UF and OSu were nothing similar to what he would deal with at nebraska.

can he resurrect the program to a top 5 team?

If he is motivated to do so and is willing to spend 3 years grinding trying to build the roster, sure.

Oh come on. He would coach Nebraska for a year, two at tops, and then quit or get fired.

How can they go "back" to the wishbone when they never were a wishbone team?

They ran a lot of option, but it was from the I and Ace formations.

He'd have to build, they aren't ready made to be elite like UF and Ohio St were when he took over.

what would make them any better than just a slightly improved version of paul johnson at ga tech? After about 2 years of paul johnson (with gailey's above average recruits) people figured that out and he was largely mediocre the rest of this tenure outside of 1 blip on the radar season. And taht was in an ACC that was mostly pathetic outside of clemson. The option in today's world is looking at about a best case scenario of a 9 win ceiling yearly.

Nebraska has not been great since they ran option/power I/ mainly rushing attack. They had road graters for olinemen and got great rb's. The defenses today aren't built for power rushing attacks. There are only a few teams that could still matchup with a power running team with great talent. Those teams are ones with huge dlines, Bama & UGA for example. 9 wins...I am sure Nebraska fans would take that this century...i think the last time they were good was under Pelini who won 10 games 2-3 times.

you are correct...but they ran some triple option, and many relate that to wishbone. Fullbacks and qb's were valuable in their offense. Passing was not a priority...it was used to catch defenses playing the run.
