After wasting Cam on the bench last season, the Nets are finally giving him some minutes and he has scored over 30 points in each of the first three games this season. There are three ex LSU Tigers on the Nets now. Thomas, Ben Simmons and Trendon Watford. I think Cam is on the way to being an all star.

His offense was never the problem, he just played atrocious defense. If he can become a league average defender, he will be a consistent all pro.

They were something like 7-16 when he scores over 20pts in a game lol

He’s the definition of a black hole

The NBA doesn’t play much defense anyway. They don’t have a scorer on the team let him start and get his shots he’s effective he’s shooting 65% from the field this season scoring all those points

Well Lester, I've never understood why so many people hate your posts but I am beginning to understand. Did you really go back and add up those games or are you just being a defeatist idiot? And how many games did they lose when Cam didn't play or scored less than 20 points? A meaningless stat which probably isn't even true. And in addition we are supposed to blame the guy who plays well in losses rather than the players who didn't? And as far as his defense goes, which looked just fine to me in the first three games, Pete Maravich once said that he was criticized as a bad defensive player but when he scored 30 points and the guy that was guarding him only got 15, then who really was bad on defense?

Enjoy rooting for Cam, but his ceiling on a good team is probably prime Lou Williams, maybe even Jamal Crawford if he plays for a long time.

Lou Williams is not meant to be an insult, had a long career and put up stats as a starter, but was awesome as an off the bench scorer on some good teams.

this is not something i invented, tho i may have been the first to say it here when he was shooting LSU out of games.

scoring points does not equate to being a good player. It is relatively easy to get buckets on a bad team. The NBA realized this about 20-25 years ago when analytics started to become more popular

fwiw he’s increased his effort a bit on defense. Still gets lost a ton but he’s trying.

Probably could have a perfect player if you combined him and Ben Simmons

Is Simmons going to somewhat redeem himself? He's putting up decent numbers..

There's a reason why a dude who can score the ball doesn't play much.

It's not just that the coach doesn't like him, there's an actual reason.

I love Cam, but he's low-effort defender and never makes the open pass in lieu of taking a hard shot.

Winners put just as much, if not more, effort into defense.

being the instant offense guy off the bench is a pretty nice gig with a long history in the league with some good outcomes

being the volume offense guy as a starter also has a long history in the league with terrible outcomes

Okay Lester if you didn't invent that stat, then what is your source? Give me a URL to go to.

Lester’s just inventing standards he’ll never apply to anyone else because he was wrong about Cam. It’s what he does.

I hate posters like you who insinuate stuff but never come out and say it. So if you know there is a "reason" then why don't you say what it is? Support for your reason would help also.
