It's one thing to fleece sponsors for advertising dollars on a station people can actually hear in BR. But on a station that you can only hear within 10 miles of a transmitter in Pierre Part?
As Clarence Buggs used to say, that's a whole different color ball of wax

I can't believe this Fat frick found a job on another station. He must be tag teaming with John Fine.

Just tuned in to 1590 heard " wake up wake up chickies followed by Can I get a witness up in here" never thought I would miss hearing "hello Newman " on my drive to work

Most of his sponsors won't follow him there .. you can't hear that station in BR .. most think fine's been gone for years when he has actually been on that station this whole time .. how many times will he be late for his show driving to donaldsonville everyday ??

Should a guy his age that didn't know if LSU had ever lost a game in the super dome really be doing a sports show?

Its not like he was 'hired' by anyone. It's gotta be another pay to play deal. I'm sure the owner of that little radio antenna is glad to take additional cash every month from Songy.
It's like the Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson deal, you know? Wait... Wut?

What city will catch the signal for buddy's new show? Will it be on the Internet too?
Posted on 1/3/12 at 9:05 am to King of New Orleans
Buddy went to bed with Roseanne Barr and woke up next to Halle Berry.

Never was a fan of Songy, really. But it sucks to see the 1210 guys get the ax like that.
You like to have local options, even if it only a bunch of "experts" finding a million ways to rehash the same LSU news. I actually liked the recruiting news on Songy's show every Wednesday. Now, it's only really the few local shows on 104.5 that are true LSU homers b/c they have the contract and won't talk bad about their biggest moneymaker.
ClearChannel's fall in BR and Guaranty's rise both continue. With Guaranty having LSU, the Saints and ESPN, that's three strikes and out for 1210. ClearChannel saw the writing on the wall. Soon, they'll probably shut down WJBO and just keep WFMF and WYNK, which are probably their only profitable stations. ClearChannel has a bazillion stations nationwide. This is nothing for them. They could pull out of BR altogether and not miss a beat.
I don't see any of the 1210 on-air guys going to 104.5. Maybe Jordy, but they wouldn't put him on in the mornings. Mike and Mike is pretty popular. Maybe replace The Herd w/Jordy or even Ott (who I'm not much of a fan of either). Condon and Songy are both SOL when it comes to landing on 104.5. I see that Ott will remain on Pelican for TV and will contribute to 690 AM in NOLA. As far as Krysan, he has Pelican TV, so he should be fine.
I figured Songy would land on KKAY. He's buddies with Matt Dunn, whose syndicated show airs on there, and Troy LeBoeuf, who works for KKAY as well. I grew up in that area. KKAY's not much. Mostly gospel/religious programming and occasional sports. I'm sure Songy will be there until another gig becomes available, but with only one sports station in BR now that we know won't hire him, that's looking pretty slim.
Hope all those guys - including the weekend guys and board ops - land on their feet doing something, radio or not.

I knew all this was coming. I know a guy that worked at 1210 and I told him this was coming last year. He went there anyway. Bad move. I was in radio at one time. This has been talked about for 3 years now. 1210 had a very low rating and had in reality only a handful of listners at best.Same people called everyday. The new Fox Sports affiliate in the area is 106.1 The Ticket New Orleans which reaches Baton Rouge. 690 WIST is now Yahoo Sports radio. Both have local sports talk. CC will not leave Baton Rouge and incidently the biggest money maker for CC in BR is actually WJBO.

I met Buddy once a long time ago at LSU. I used to listen to his show when it was on something like 1500 am or so.
Buddy is not the definition of sophistication. I remember when I met him he made a crude remark about a LSU female athlete. I hope he's evolved a little bit since then. It was mostly guy talk, but I thought gee for a guy in the media should he be saying this to a guy he just met. He also said this in front of me and an LSU employee who knew the female athlete who was attractive, but man Buddy watch what you say.
