Where’s this big “gotcha”? A guy getting 100K from Nike and 20K from a car dealership will have to pay taxes on that. And the beach volleyball chick will report her Fab Fit Fun sponsorship.

This isn’t earth-shattering news.

Oh yeah.

"Recruit A, you're going to be my spokesperson, and as compensation, you will get a brand new car and be on salary."

This is really gonna benefit female athletes IMO. They'll be able get in on those sponsorships that the rest of the social media thots have.

ETA: Those beach volleyball swimsuit calendars gonna be lit!

The "gotcha" is that the NCAA will regulate in the way that puts the NCAA first and the players second.

Nike and Gatorade will sign exclusive contracts with schools.

So for instance, only Duke players get Gatorade contracts.

Yeah this revolutionary change to the game people are expecting is just not realistic

The state of Arkansas thinks of the Razorback basketball and football teams as their professional teams and they will pay for success if that’s an option. This is a huge change.

Yeah, whenever this rule comes into play, let’s say 2022, the number one recruit will sign a 3 year 15 million dollar deal with Adidas and then they will tell him to either go to Kansas or straight to the pros. The number two guy will have a comparable deal with Nike and be told to attend a Nike school or go to the pros.

But no.
They will tell them to go to Rutgers because of the NYC market

Where is it going?Im guessing a bunch of teams will be going away if kids can make money playing college ball. There won’t be a lot of 18 year olds choosing minor league ball over college ball.

How much money is there out there for college baseball already?

Kids don't go to the minors to make money. They are in the minors because they already got paid (at least the level of athlete we're discussing).

Arkansas Razorback players will now be Tyson Chicken and Wal-Mart spokespeople.

If this comes into fruition then collegiate sports will forever be ruined. That will also mean that college athletes that get compensated for "using their names and likeness" will have to pay taxes on that along with paying taxes on their athletic scholarships. Don't think for one minute that the NCAA hasn't already thought of this because there's no way that they're going to just throw this out there without any thorough thinking. If it does happen then welcome to the real world, college athletes and enjoy paying your taxes!

I don't understand why some of you seem so upset about other people making money.

I think it'll keep players in college longer, especially ones on the fence about going pro after junior year.

But it won't change anything for top prospects in college or high school. They get 7 figure signing bonuses.

Jordan Burch, the new spokesman for Gordon McKernan.

He could be on every bus bench and billboard in a week.

Oregon bout to be coming in bigly when the Nike money starts flowing. This has potential to be a disaster imo.
