re: Braves trade Wood, Peraza for Olivera +, UPDATE: Teheran could be traded too

A Dodgers website is reporting that minor league pitchers Victor Araujo and Kevin Guzman are the other two players joining Jeff Brigham as the players to be sent to the Marlins. Neither Araujo nor Guzman are in the Dodgers top 30 prospects.

Sources: Atlanta may not be done after dealing Alex Wood. Braves have listened on Julio Teheran as well. SP market still awfully crowded.

Well on the bright side, if we are trading Julio too then I'm guessing we are going to try and sign one of the major FA pitchers this offseason (which I would rather do than go after one of the bats). Otherwise there is no way we will be competing in 2017.
And of course, trading Wood and Julio would pretty much cinch a top 10 pick this year.

So the wood deal is official?

No nothing has been finalized yet

It is done per Bowman. Pending physicals.

So once this trade gets done, who do we call up? I'm thinking we go ahead and bring up Tyrell Jenkins to pitch as our 4th/5th starter.
1. Shelby Miller
2. Folty
3. Manny Banuelos
4. Wisler
5. Jenkins

So I guess Teheran is sent to the minors in this scenario?

I was hoping I would wake up this morning and feel better about this move but NOPE. This is just a terrible, terrible overpay for an already 30 year old infielder who has injury concerns. No idea what the hell Hart was thinking.
To give up 4 more controllable years of probably our best pitcher of the last few years for this is laughable and goes against everything Hart has done. I know he has done a great job of assembling young pitching but hardly any, if any, are proven. Miller is great, but then what? I like Wisler but he only has a handful of starts under his belt. Banuelos pitched well but again, only a few starts. This move now screams let's win in 2016 but it's very likely next year we have 4 guys in the rotation that still have or barely lost their rookie status. No team is going to win with that. And we'd be kidding ourselves if we think Hart is going to throw money at one of the high priced free agents. With our middle tier budget and shitty TV contract, we won't be able to compete no matter how much we all think we will.
And to give up Peraza, a top 50ish prospect that is hitting .300 as a 21 year old in AAA, basically for the number 34 pick in the draft. I know Peraza is somewhat expendable but that doesn't mean you drop his value by a big margin. It's not like Jace is having some great season.
Just incredibly, incredibly stupid if this goes through and I don't get it. Olivera better be a perennial all star and that must start next year. Only way this will be worth it.

Reading is obviously not your strong suit. Teheran is rumored to be going somewhere unknown. So, stay with me here.. if everything that is rumored, comes to fruition Teheran would not be on our staff any longer. Are you following now?

So I see you are just an arse. Good job. I hate knowing you are in the Air Force.

No, I just have no time for stupidity. I hate knowing that you and your boy toy catfish are Braves fans.

JULY 30: The Dodgers will indeed pay the final two installments of Olivera’s signing bonus, tweets David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. That means the Braves are essentially taking on Olivera on a six-year, $32.5MM contract that began this season. He’s earning $2MM in 2015, of which about $754K remains, so their total financial commitment to him will be about $31.25MM over the course of five and a half years.
So this isn't TOO terrible. We aren't on the hook for a large chunk of his contract. Still not a fan of the overall trade.

This was known. It helps but the trade still makes no sense

You are forgetting about Perez. He's had a couple rehab starts now and is almost back, he'd come up before Jenkins. I'd imagine Jenkins would come up for Banuelos since he's shut down though.

Nice reading comprehension on the contract idiot. You just did the same thing you bitched about. Stupidity. Now GTFO.
Posted on 7/30/15 at 8:14 am to crimsonian
So you think a little over $6M a year is a terrible contract? Please go play in traffic you waste of fricking space.
Posted on 7/30/15 at 8:16 am to auyushu
I did forget about Perez, you are correct. Man, I am honestly surprised we haven't made Freeman available via trade. I mean, we are literally moving every thing around him. Our team has no direction. It just seems like we are just doing whatever we can to get younger.
