More stupidity. The contract was mentioned on the previous page and you missed it just like the post you were bitching about. Like I said, GTFO idiot. Air Force needs to drop you.

I like the contract, but that wasn't the point of the post.

Yeah I'm not really understanding this trade yet. We must hold Olivera in ridiculously high esteem.

Yeah. This trade actually makes us older and makes it more likely we'll be competing by 2017, it's just a huge overpay and a dumb trade.

I'm assuming this trade means we will be spending our tons of money we have available on a FA pitcher this offseason, because otherwise we'll merely have a barely above .500 type team in 2017. But assuming we sign someone like Price or Grienke, and even if we traded Julio:

Price/Grienke
Miller
Wisler
Perez
Folty/Banuelos/Jenkins

Would be a pretty be a very strong rotation going forward, and we'd just need to find a LF and C via trade or FA to have a pretty solid team.

Of course if we aren't planning on signing a starter in FA then I don't know what the hell we are doing, outside of making sure we have high draft picks in 2015 and 2016.

To be fair, not everyone can be under 25.

Alex Wood's velocity is dropping. His BAA is climbing, currently at .288+. His K% is falling. He's already had TJ surgery and if he is heading for another then we have another Mike Minor on our hands. From the outside looking in, it appears that our organization and doctors feel that this may be the peak of Alex Wood's value.

Just playing devil's advocate here. Alex wood has a productive ERA and he's controllable through '20 but his peripherals are plummeting.

Even worse, we basically gave up Wood and Peraza to save the extra 30 mil it would have taken to sign Olivera ourselves this offseason.

No question about that. They pursued hard in offseason and couldn't compete financially. Now they can handle the finances but now also costs a 24 year old lefty under control for four more years while posting a career 3.10 ERA and a prospect ranked in the top 50 of most publications.

They better be right on Olivera. At least he'll have the rest of this season to get acclimated to major league pitching so next year he better be ready to go.......as a 31 year old. shite.

People need to remember John Hart has never been shy about opening the checkbook with any of his teams in the past. ATL is already suppose to be big spenders on the international market this upcoming offseason and it's likely we make a big splash in free agency too. It's going to be an interesting off season. I wouldn't be surprised to see up make a strong push for Otani if he's posted.

We've all known that management's intention was to compete for a World Series title in 2017. New stadium, new players, new manager, the works. I just hope that they hold true to their word.

Are we getting THAT much older in this trade? The combined average age of what we are giving up in Johnson, Avilan, Peraza, and Wood is 25.75 while our returned combined age in Olivera, Bird and Rodriguez is 25. I didn't factor in the competitive balance pick from the Marlins, and if it's a 19 year old kid, it drops the age more in the favor of getting younger.

I already don't agree with the trade... But if they don't promote him to the bigs immediately this year, then someone is clueless. You are right, hopefully he has the rest of this season to get acclimated. He hit .387 in 31 AAA ABs before the hamstring injury, and .318 in AA before that.

If they're right about Olivera, then this is a good move. Wood is replaceable; don't know anything about Peraza.

There's also more certainty surrounding Olivera's abilities in the majors now than there was before he was signed.
People are kicking themselves about not offering more for Kang as well. But now there's certainty.

Clearly writing is not your strong suit since what you wrote gives the impression that Teheran is automatically gone. You base that off of one tweet, so stupid.

You are fricking unbearable.

Please start a GoFundMe so I can donate to your college education.

I'd much sooner start a gofundme to have your dumbass banned for life from here than to worry about obtaining a masters degree in my career field.

I will say this about Olivera: Went to see the OKC Dodgers play the Memphis Redbirds a few weeks back. Olivera hit an insanely long home run that night and was the best hitter I saw all night. He ended up like 4-5 at the plate.

Guess we'll see how it shakes out.

I'm excited to see Olivera hit. The only real problem I have with the deal is that since we included Johnson and Avilan, I would have liked to see a better arm(s) in return.

Yeah that's my only issue. Olivera and Paco are fine. But we should have at least been able to get De Leon or Holmes I would have thought. That would have changed everything.
