Boomer vs this is always wrong/irritating?

I was watching the end of the UW/Minnesota game Saturday. Down 10, with under 2 minutes to go and with only 1 timeout left, the UW QB scored a running TD...and did a stupid celebration (and not really a team celebration, more of a "look at me" kind).
Question: is it just an old man thing to be annoyed at this or is it objectively dumb to spend any energy on celebrating when a loss is virtually guaranteed?
It's sort of the opposite of soccer where - when still down a goal (or more) late in the game after successfully scoring - the goal scorer will pick up the ball and sprint back to midfield. I understand the clock is different, but there's simply no reason for celebration. A loss is very likely.

I have an old man problem with not being able to do the throat slash gesture but we can spray AKs all over the damn field

Can’t remember the game a few weeks ago, but someone scored a touchdown fairly late when they were down by an insurmountable margin and did the “shhhh” gesture to the home crowd. Ridiculously stupid.

It’s not an old man thing it’s a class, maturity and sportsmanship thing. If those 3 things make a person mad or they react in a spiteful way it’s because they’re classless trash.

I’m still seeing about 50 each Saturday, though, I think. Could be something else, but I think they’re just doing it a little more discretely. Miss State signed off his post game interview with one, didn’t he?

Watched this clip, rewatched the celebration, rewatched celebration.
(1) celebration was very mild. During a week with a urination celebration after a sack in a close ballgame and a nut sniffing/pass out TD celebration, this is a strange celebration to complain about.
(2) teammates all surrounded him quickly.
(3) I think OP’s summary of the celebration is poor.
(4) I think OP’s summary of the game
Situation is worse, 3 pt game (not a 10 pt game) with 1:54, and Wash had a TO; I don’t think game outcome was virtually guaranteed, the TD gave his team a chance.

The other 90%+ is exactly what anyone with a brain immediately knew was going to happen: Minnesota recovers the onside kick and easily runs out the clock.
It would have been PRETTY stupid had the TD been to actually tie the game. It's nonsensical when faced with a near-certain loss.
In any event, I'm old. I basically don't like ANY celebrations that aren't team oriented.
