I'm having a hard time keeping up. MSB wisdom says Bill only won in NE because he had TB12. Now, Nix is only a good QB because he has Payton as a coach?
Sooooooo, was Drew good because of Payton's coaching? Or did Brees' QBing make Payton look better?

Oregon had more talent than everyone they played during the regular season and gave him the simplest reads possible. Of course he was going to have more success there.
Is that what we are talking about? His relative success at Oregon vs. Auburn?
Or, are we discussing his significant development at Oregon to the point he was a Heisman finalist, a first round pick, and now looks to be a legitimate top tier NFL QB.
The light bulb came on at Oregon.

You’re insinuating Auburn let him go
The OP sets that premise. Did you even read it?

He epitomizes Auburn in that we can’t seem to get out of our own way
I disagree with that. It wasn’t working at Auburn. That was felt by him. And I believe it was felt by Auburn. Both knew that it wasn’t going to work out to the level both had hoped.
It’s the same home Auburn had with Jackson Arnold. You hope the guy flourishes in a new environment and a new system.
There’s too many Auburn fans being sensitive when there’s no real reason to be so. It happens. Some guys just do better in a different situation.

He has improved tremendously since he left Auburn.
I am pulling for him because I have him on my fantasy team.

These same posters will say Brees is a top 3 QB of all time but turn around and say “Payton made Nix”

I asked you already, what did he do at Oregon he didn’t do at Auburn?

Harsin was an idiot. If you want to argue he was limited by Harsin I will agree.
But Nix at Auburn was tough because his dad and old guys and everything else was in play trying to force a bunch of BS. Plus Auburn sucked so of course more pressure on the Qb.
Given all that, Nix while at Auburn was clearly a very good player just young. It was very clear that given the right circumstances he would easily mature into a very good QB. His issues at Auburn was he was hot and cold, occasional bad decisions, lack of maturity, etc. All issues related to being a young Qb. All issues that most Qbs have when they are….crazy…hold on….young…..

In 2019 Bo Nix beat out Derrick Stingley for SEC Freshman of the Year

Seriously?
At Auburn his passing stats regressed from year 1 to year 3 (2500+ to 2200+)
At Oregon he threw for 3500+ then 4500+
At Auburn TDs regressed from 16 to 11 over his 3 years.
At Oregon he threw for 29 TDs and the. 45 TDs.
He best rushing year at Oregon doubled his best year at Auburn in TDs.
And in his last year at Oregon he truly developed into a passer and stopped relying on his run ability.
He finished 3rd in Heisman voting at Oregon.
He became a first round pick at Oregon.
At Oregon, he was never benched due to performance.
Is that enough?

…aaaand another win. 9-2. Another 4th qtr comeback. Beaten both Superbowl teams from a year ago. Best record in the NFL.

Auburn’s gonna do this again this year firing Freeze who is building a good team but has just missed on the portal QBs. They’d be better off keeping Freeze and spending some of that buyout money on a legit portal QB instead of these guys everyone already knows can’t play - Thorne and Arnold.
Yep. Freeze has built a team to compete and win in the SEC at every position except for QB. That’s all they’re missing. They royally fricked up by firing him

He got drafted into one of the best situations in the NFL. A head coach that has developed QBs and knows how to run an offense with a QB with great accuracy but weaker arm and has mobility.
They have one of the best defenses already to help with his growing pains, strong OL and receiving options.
He’s a great player, but went to much better situations than Williams and Daniels did.
There is no way he is getting the Commanders to a NFC championship game like Daniels did last year.
That said, we will look back at the 2024 QB class as one of the greatest ever. It could technically rival the 1983 class.

60.9% completion percentage
Tied 3rd most INTs
1 win over team with winning record
#3 scoring defense on the other side of the ball
First ballot Hall of Mid if you have any idea what you’re watching

It would be double that amount if Bo Nix hadn't just beat Kansas City.

Yep… we claim Burrow and Daniels as one of our own down here … I’m sure Oregon feels the same at about Bo

The usage of “he” above is pathetic and disrespectful to the defense. “He” is the definition of “along for the ride”

If you're watching (instead of cherry picking stats to attack him) then you would notice he is doing a very good job of managing the offense that was set for him and he has a crazy amount of clutch plays and game winning drives for a second year player.
Credit Peyton of course for a lot of this. Three years ago, they had the worst defense in the league and Russel Wilson was running for his life on every snap. And Nix was the 6th QB taken in the draft - not exactly where you find your franchise savior, Tom Brady aside.
