quote:

During his appearance on the Get God Pod with Marshawn Lynch & Mike Robinson, Jackson admitted that while he “hates to say it,” and insists he’s “not sour” about his football career, he no longer watches the NFL.

“And I hate to say it, and it’s not that I’m sour. We sat and watched golf. I don’t watch any baseball, football, or basketball,” said Jackson.

But there’s more. Jackson expressed that he would watch football if it resembled the sport he played — not the way it is now, “a dance contest”.

“Besides, for me right now—and I can’t take (anything) from these young cats playing—but I’d rather watch football. I don’t need to see a dance contest. I don’t need to see a celebration. I don’t need to see that, dude.”

When the average MSB poster feels this way, it’s old man yelling at cloud who’s unable to appreciate the greatness of the modern game.

I bet many former athletes feel the way he does.

He is 61

Kinda old. Not ancient. But approaching or has approached “old man yelling at cloud” status.

There used to be a thing called sportsmanship and respect but that’s been lost long ago. Coaches used to chew you out for showboating but that’s long gone.

It’s an entertainment show now. Biggest clown gets the money.

Eh, dances were better back in the day.

Billy White Shoes Johnson was the GOAT and nothing these days works as well as the Ickey Shuffle or Dirty Bird.

I just don’t know how we got to the point where we stopped thinking it was super gay for a grown man to pre plan a little dance

I just want some damn defense allowed in the game. It used to be a game winning drive by a QB was unique, now, any decent game boils down to who has the ball last. It’s overplayed.

It's one thing to do a dance but I can’t stand when players run 40yards to get in front of the camera.

Y’all missed the whole “dancing” comment. He is saying that the NFL is soft. That you can’t hit anyone, with targeting or not being able to smash the QB.

The game barely resembles football from the 80’s and 90’s.

I mean we have HDTV, social media and concussion awareness now.

We don't want to see Chris Olave get concussion #5 of his Saints career and then see him diagnosed with Parkinsons when he's 40. We don't like seeing Steve Gleason and Brett Favre the way they are.

There is a difference between dirty hits and good clean hard hitting football.

These men are also paid appropriately for what they agree to put their bodies through. Make 6 years and you’re qualified for NFL retirement.

These guys are not office workers making $70k a year.

No, I think he was pretty straightforward about the dancing comment. He was literally talking about dancing.

Are you really blaming football for Steve Gleason being sadly diagnosed with ALS?

Really? I guess you also blame baseball for Lou Gehrig dying from ALS.

What a dumbass chode......

bullshite. This is the MSB version of virtue signaling. You don't really care. You want to display your concern publicly so you can show everyone how morally superior you are to the rest of us. You may even believe that hack fraudster of a doctor, Omalu.

I want to see Ronnie Lott decapitate WRs. I want to see Lawrence Taylor break QBs in half. I want to see John Lynch put opposing players in traction. I want Dick Butkus eviscerating RBs and TEs. I don't care if the NFL has lime pits outside of every stadium that they have to bury bodies in after the games. I want the game to go back to the way it was before Roger Goodell and Robert Kraft ruined it.

I haven't spent one second worried about that 3rd string TE on the Seahawks who got splattered in 1998 - and, frankly, neither have you. So, quit the concern theater.

My 2 favorite times to see players dance:

1) team down by 21 points, linebacker on the losing team tackles the winning team’s ball carrier after a 2 year gain. Gets up and dances with his boys, does the “feed me” nonsense etc.

2) losing team is driving down the field with 30 second left on the clock. Losing team’s diva WR makes a catch, then proceeds to get up, flex, and piss away 8 more precious seconds all while the QB is begging the team to get lined up.

All of this dancing and celebration silly shite makes sense when you remember that these guys are playing for themselves as an individual - their highlight real, their endorsement deals, their paychecks - they’re not playing for the team. They’d rather get a nice stat line with some cool dances and have their team lose.

The whole team going to the end zone to pose is the worst ever. Worse then individual dances imo
