He said we have a report of a car with your make and color, that is running drugs tonight. We don’t have a license plate so we are pulling over every car we see on 12 with that make and color. But don’t worry I’m sending in your license plate number so no other trooper pulls you over this evening.
I was a college kid. Today I would have probably called an attorney.

Searching any college team bus on a traffic stop is a non-starter, period. Doesn't matter if it's football, fencing, equestrian, et al.
There is a growing black lacrosse community as well as POC lacrosse community who are not going to let this go away. With the discoveries of all the Native American bodies in unmarked graves throughout Canada (in big/traditional lacrosse communities) combined with increasing instances of racial slurs against black players in HS games the last 2 months (where multiple teams have actually walked off the field in solidarity with their teammates) = these issues aren't going to be swept under the rug & forgotten. Their voices are getting louder.

And if the cops didn’t know they were black before they pulled it over, they obviously did after and could maybe exercise a little common sense and awareness of the current political climate and send the bus on its way without searching everyone’s bags
They shouldn't have searched if they didn't have probable cause, not because of the race of those they pulled over.

No it's not. They were on a long trip. If they were smoking they'd have weed for the ride up and ride back. I highly doubt it would be only blunts and amounts small enough to be eaten. I also doubt it would be only one person smoking on that bus as well. The seats were most likely made of fabric as well, which trap weed smell very well.
