wasn't kansas st a win away from being in the title game but Texas AM beat them?

I thought about this one, but KState was just a damn good program under Snyder. ‘98 was in the middle of a stretch where they won 11 games 6/7 seasons.

9-3 in 2022 and 2023 isn't really struggle bus. If so, then Bama is on it. There are extremely few teams in the country that can go 9-3 in the SEC West then.

Absolutely 2010 Auburn. They go 8-5 in 2009. Then run the table in 2010 going 14-0 with Cam. Then they go 8-5 again in 2011.

One hit wonder Joe Brady? Lmao frick outta here. Dude is the OC for a very high powered and fun offense and is on the shortlist of pretty much every NFL HC vacancy.

We have 3 national titles the in the last 21 years and 4 appearances. Calling LSU a one-hit wonder is hilarious.

TBF...he wasn't very good in Carolina but that was his first real NFL OC gig. He has done a great job in Buffalo after some learning years.

LSU has been to the SECCG since that season

And in 2013 AU were leading the National Championship Game in the Rose Bowl with 13 seconds left. And it 2017 they beat the #1 team two weeks in a row and were playing in the SECCG to go to the playoffs.

That's not a one hit wonder. Jeckyl and Hyde...sure, but not a one hit wonder.

Yeah, that’s why I wouldn’t call Auburn or LSU a one hit wonder. The coaches, yes.

You may want to check in on the Buffalo Bills. His name is getting NFL HC buzz.

He’s been ascending rapidly since he came to LSU. If he’s a one hit wonder then I guess a lot of mofos are as well.

He’s gonna be a HC this year or next.

1990 Georgia Tech
1987 Syracuse
1990 Louisville

1990 was a very underrated weirdo season. The biggest thing most people remember about that year is the Colorado 5th down game, but the poll volatility was wild.

Miami starts #1 and loses in week 1 to BYU
Notre Dame takes the top spot before they even play their first game on September 15th (!), logging impressive wins over #4 Michigan, #15 Michigan State, and Purdue before losing at home to a 1-3 Stanford team coming off of a loss to San Jose State.
Michigan, who had lost to Notre Dame in their mid-September season opener takes over the top spot only to lose to in-state rival Michigan State.
Next to take the top spot in the polls, the Virginia Cavaliers who had started the season at #15 but worked their way up to #1 despite only one marquee win over #9 Clemson. The Cavaliers would hold the top spot for a few weeks before conference foe Georgia Tech went to Charlottesville to knock of the Cavaliers. More on the Yellow Jackets later.
Notre Dame would reclaim the top spot after Virginia's loss and, following a narrow victory at #9 Tennessee, the Irish would fall again at home, this time to #18 Penn State.
Colorado, despite a 1-1-1 start including a tie against #8 Tennessee and a loss at #21 Illinois, would win out, with a little help from the stripes in CoMo, to claim the #1 spot after the Irish loss to Penn State, they would retain that spot in the AP poll claiming the title following their Orange Bowl victory over the Irish.
The UPI poll disagreed and awarded their title to 11-0-1 Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets began the season unranked, but were 6-0-1 and had worked their way up to #16 before their November victory at Virginia. The Yellow Jackets, as previously mentioned, were ranked outside of the top 15 in November, would end up claiming a share of the national championship. The rise in the polls following the Virginia game was absurd as they won out beating a 6-5 Virginia Tech squad by 3, 3-8 Wake Forest, 4-7 Georgia, and ultimately knocking off Big 8 runner up Nebraska in the Citrus Bowl.

still believe that had the 2014 team made the CFP they could have won the natty,

I still can’t fathom why people think that if one of the other teams was going to get in that year that it should’ve been TCU over Baylor Baylor beat him head on and had the same record.

I never said anything about who would have or should have been in that year, I was comparing 2022 TCU to prior TCU teams since someone said TCU was a one hit wonder. I think that the 2014 team was better than the 2022 team and that the 2014 team was actually equipped to win a natty that year had they been in the field.
