A subgroup of four Big Ten university presidents met virtually on Wednesday as part of exploratory discussions about potentially expanding membership by two or four teams, two sources briefed on the call confirmed to The Athletic. It was not the only call they have had in recent weeks.

The two sources reiterated that discussions are in the early stages and are very preliminary, and that the Big Ten could decide to stay at 16 members and not expand further. The four schools under consideration are Oregon and Washington (if the Big Ten wants to expand by two) plus Cal and Stanford (if it wants to expand by four). All four schools are current members of the Pac-12.

One source noted that the Big Ten would likely not act until it sees what happens with the Big 12 and the Pac-12. The Big Ten does not want to be the one to cause the death of the Pac-12 Conference.

And I’d like a blowjob from Isla Fisher. But neither of those things are happening.

Four corners to the Big 12.

Oregon, Washington, Stanford, Cal to the B1G.

Wazzu and Oregon State to the Mountain West.

It wasn’t those shooters on the grassy knoll who got Kennedy after all, he was still breathing till he got to Parkland!

Yeah just poach USC and UCLA and then still act all high and mighty like they had nothing to do with the state of things now.

This has been the rumor for months. Colorado jumping to the Big 12 was supposed to be the lynchpin action that gave the B1G cover to invite Oregon and Washington.

I don’t know what to believe anymore now that Cal and Stanford rumors have started.

Because taking two of the PAC-12’s most iconic brands out of the second largest media market in the country had nothing to do with any of this

The B1G shot the PAC in the dick, left it bleeding in the street, and then said “ya know, I don’t want this blood on my hands. But if a truck runs it over, I guess we’ll loot the corpse.”

In the end the Big 10 and SEC will attempt to get so large that it will create breakaways themselves.

For not wanting to be the cause of breaking up the PAC 10, it sure as hell is not keeping itself from doing it

What if the B1G is secretly negotiating with UF and UGA?

The B1G didn’t offer the other west coast teams at the time because they couldn’t get them full share. Considering the state media companies are in, they probably still can’t, and are meeting to discuss whether to offer partial share.

Last night Arizona voted and have the support to join the B12, but they know their seat at the table is set and they don’t want to look like they killed the conference. They may also be looking to see if a better PAC deal arrives (it probably won’t).

B1G met today because the thought of paying an exit fee for two more teams is becoming a real possibility. But offering partial share to two of the largest remaining teams, when your new up and coming rival can offer a full share immediately? That’s gonna look really bad.

Arizona State and Utah add to the B12 what they already have and are sloppy seconds

UF and UGA would sooner or later have a lot of regret.

I know the Big XII wants Arizona basketball but ASU is the better football brand so that’s a wash
