Better Career Favre-Rodgers?

obviously Favre is the INT GOAT so that's a bad outlier
both won a Super Bowl, Favre appeared in another. rules were much more difficult for a qb the majority of Favre's career. Favre was a better JET...and almost got the vikings to a Super Bowl.
I know the answer is gonna be all Rodgers but Rodgers had a lot cushier time to play. I always envision favre having to throw lasers in tight windows and Rodgers kinda rolling out and hitting more open guys....the mobility is certainly a huge factor for Rodgers. But it's kinda shocking he couldn't do more in his packer career. Favre threw for a TON of yards.

Favre. He was relevant til the day he retired. He left Green Bay & had success. Rodgers left and vanished

Definitely Favre
Love him or hate him, he was must-see tv and fun to watch
Seems like Rodgers is hated and boring

Agreed. Seemed like Rodgers would pull away but just never could and became more unlikeable

I think the only way to compare guys from today’s era to those of yesteryear is to see how great they were compared to league average. Then you need to take into account receiving talent, which is hard because you measure that by numbers that are created with said QB
Then you factor in league defensive averages and the like.
The game is just so damn different now than it was when Fabre played. Same shite in the NBA.
MLB numbers were most comparable until they made the bases bigger and now Ohtani is 50-50.
But anyway…I’ll say Favre.

He was fun to watch and for the most part seemed to have fun playing. Though in 2007 he went from having one of his better regular seasons including a game where he was playing with snow like a kid to looking absolutely miserable in that negative wind chill night NFC championship game against the Giants. You could tell Manning was younger during that game. Can’t hide approaching 40 with 16 years of being sacked, tackled, and hit in the NFL in that kind of cold weather at night.

Favre had a much better head coach that he played for in Holmgren. McCarthy was a bad coach during Rodgers time as Packers QB. The worst loss was to the Seahawks in the playoffs, Packers were up and the offense was rolling, McCarthy started calling all running plays and Packers lost that game and watched the Seahawks go on to the Super Bowl.
Personally I lean towards Favre, but it is a shame that Rodgers did not have a decent HC while playing for the Packers.

Favre probably better career, but Rodgers peak was better.

Yah Rodgers was 3rd best QB in NFL history in his prime, but it's turned into a SUPER disappointing career after that early SB win.
Can't believe the right answer is Favre, but it is.

It's pretty insane just how closely Favre's and Rodger's careers have paralleled on another. Both were wildly talented and had all time great careers by any estimation, but at the same time it feels like both let their stubbornness and ego get in the way of fully maximizing what they could have accomplished.
As far as the better career, most would probably say Rodgers in a vacuum, but obviously Favre played most of his career in a much tougher era for passing. It's worth noting that in the ONE season that they both were healthy and starting at the same time (2009) they put up remarkably similar seasons (with a slight edge to Favre who was 40 while Rodgers was 26).
The biggest problem for both of them, I've always thought, was that they became so venerated early in their careers and developed so much power in Green Bay that no one around them could criticize them anymore and call them out when they had their heads up their asses (which was often). No matter what happened or how they lost the fans and the media would make excuses for them... it was never Brett or Aaron's fault, always someone else's.
Favre's biggest weakness was obviously his interceptions, especially in the back half of his career. He had his best years when Holmgren was riding his arse and making him somewhat take care of the ball. Once Holmgren left Favre had carte blanche to chuck it into triple coverage at will, and boy did he. Ironically, Favre's best season in the second half of his career was 2009. He played smart, efficient football for most of that entire season and then, with a chance at the Super Bowl on the line, he just had to wing the ball across his body back into the middle of the field. It's just who he was.
Rodger's biggest weakness was the fact that he always thought he was the smartest guy in the room and he damn well was going to let you know it. No matter how the Packers were running the offense, Rodgers knew better. No matter who they brought in to play for them, Rodgers knew better. Anytime things weren't going well in the game you could count on the camera to cut to Rodgers and there he'd be with that pissy look on his face acting like someone next to him just cut the world's biggest fart. The Jets gave him most of want he wanted this year from the offense they were running, to the assistants, to the personnel and all he's done is whine and act like nothing going wrong is his fault. He's just not a leader.
As for who had the better career, it's actually probably a tie at this point; and I don't mean that as a cop out, I think it's genuinely that close with points that could go to either. Gun to my head, I'd probably take Favre on account of the fact that his absolute best seasons were probably better than the rest of the league at that time compared to Rodger's best seasons (I'd guess anyway).
I'm glad I got to watch them both play. At their best they were as fun to watch as any two quarterbacks the league has ever seen.

Favre is like $40 Million behind on Child Support Payments and Rodgers was Anti Media and Vax before it was socially acceptable to be either.
Your judge of character is interesting.

Farve was the last of the gritty old school NFL gunslingers.
Def. a more memorable overall career.

Rodgers is so likable. Listen to his podcast on Rogan.

Favre. Green Bay was a steaming pile of shite when Favre got there. The franchise was in real danger of maybe having to relocate. He put the Packers back on the map. In fact, since Favre's first year in Green Bay(1992), the Packers have the most playoff appearances and second most playoff wins of any NFL team.
Comparing the the two Favre was the starter for 16 years. He made the playoffs 11 times, had a 12-10 playoff record, went to two Super Bowls, and won one. He had one losing record as the starting QB(2005). This was after Green Bay had only 3 winning seasons from 68-91(since Lombardi left). Rodgers inherited a winning franchise. He was the starter 15 years and went to the playoffs 11 times with an 11-10 record, 1 SB appearance and victory. He had four losing seasons. Rodgers is the star whore, but Favre was a better leader and teammate. Favre is better.

All I needed to read. It shows that you know nothing about how the Packers organization works. 4-12 seasons still had the stadium sold out. No private ownership of the club meant it was never going to move regardless of how bad the football product was.
The most recent danger of the Packers relocating occurred in the 1950’s when they were fighting to build New City Stadium. They built it, it was renamed Lambeau Field, hired an Italian from New York, and the rest as they say is history. At no time since the new stadium was built was that franchise ever going to relocate.

Favre gifted Strahan the nfl sack record AND gifted the Saints their first Super Bowl appearance.

This is lost on a lot of people ”new” Packers fans, they played half of their games in Milwaukee.

This is false, the only time they were close was when Lambeau wanted to move them to Los Angeles. They promptly ran his arse out of town despite winning them their championships.

Reggie White said Favre was one of the reasons he came to Green Bay but most importantly “God” told him to come to Green Bay. God turned out to be Mike Holmgren.
As far as comparing Favre to Rodgers, Rodgers played in a much easier division than Favre. NFC North was a fricking dumpster fire compared to the old NFC Central aka the "Black and Blue division."
