NBA players are freaks bc of their height in addition to their athletic skills (speed, strength, power). There just aren’t that many humans on the planet with that kind of skill set.

Lebron is 6'9 250lbs. I find it hard to believe that he would be pushed around easily.

You sure?
All you'd have to do is put Brendan Haywood on the opposing team and Lebron would cower like a pussy even more so than he already would.

and frick lebron

I mean juiced just like he has in NBA. He would of just got bigger frame for NFL, where as a bigger frame and 2 much muscle can hurt you in NBA.

The question was about who would make a better NFL TE and Cam is an NFLer and we've seen him take the physical hits and get back up. We don't know that about LeBron, not on that type of stage. My point is fear and intimidation can negate athleticism.

I once had a conversation with an SEC football coach (Terry Price) about recruiting players out of high school. There was a guy with a really high SPARQ rating that wasn't getting a lot of attention. I think he was a 3 star recruit and I asked about why a guy like that wouldn't have a ton of offers. He said one big thing they look for is "football bodies." He said there's a difference between a fast, athletic guy and a fast, athletic guy that can get knocked around for 3 hours and still run at top speed.

Lebron's a physical player, and he's certainly thick enough for his height to be a football player. But you never really know how much physical punishment a guy can take until he actually goes through it on the field.

Go back and look at that picture again. LeBron looks fit, Cam looks fat and out of shape.

Man I HATE when people bring up guys like Jimmie Graham and Julius Peppers to bring up a point of "see BBALL guys can switch to Football and dominate DURRRR".... maybe just maybe they were born gifted as frick at football too?!

Idk just maybe. Because there has been like 4 guys make the switch and be good now we must assume many could Why doesn't EVERY single college basketball player that doesn't get drafted in the TWO ROUND NBA Draft just switch the NFL and become a starter instantly?!?! Hmmmm I wonder why.

Also back to the topic at hand. Lebron is the better athlete. Cam is close behind but far tougher and more physical. I don't know if we'll ever see a guy as good as Cam at getting 2 or 3 yards when you need it. He was LITERALLY unstoppable in college and damn near it in the pros before his body started breaking down. Although I imagine he could have still done it the past couple years.. the coaches just didn't want to put him through it. And they had the best back in the league...

Man what a fricking incredible sight it would have been to see prime Cam and prime CM in an offense together with someone like Lincoln Riley. Honestly I think that would have been the hardest offense to stop of all time. Hell Cam was hard as hell to stop with Jonathon Steward at the end of his career, Ted Ginn and fricking Jericho Cotchery.

The TE isn’t even the most athletic position on the football field.

Lebron wouldn't be worth a damn if he had a coach of the quality of Mike Shula

Not every basketball player can, but LeBron is a unique athlete. He came out of HS 6'8, 240 and capable of dunking from the FT line.

I don't know how that isn't a unique physical skill set just in the general spectrum of athleticism. At his peak size, he's a slightly larger Jimmy Graham sizewise, and from the basketball comparison standpoint, more athletic than Graham.

That doesn't mean he'd adjust to FB like Graham, but he clearly has the tools. Not every basketball player could make it, but freaks like LeBron and Zion would be fine, assuming they figured out how to play. LeBron being all-state as a soph WR in HS leads you to believe he had some ability to figure out how to play.

Also, as a side note, I don't think LeBron has the base to be an edge rusher, but I think Zion would be an insane edge rusher. He has unreal explosion at a size that would make him a bigger DE.

If he could learn some moves and had flexibility to get decent pad level, his agility and explosion would be top level, then add in he'd be doing it at 280+.

basketball is the #1 sport for most african american men and if there is any hope, they're going for the dream

it takes a special recipe of NBA tweener (which doesn't really exist anymore in the same way) which fits perfectly with a position that can be learned pretty easily (TE)

although, i did use Charlie Ward as a non-TE example

I think it was Slo who said it on this board years ago, but the NFL is full of guys that wish they were in the NBA.

Basketball is just another level of athleticism.

I always thought Iverson would have had a shot as a CB. He had some high level speed and agility in his prime and excelled at FB in HS.

LeBron’s one of those legendary athletes who would’ve dominated whatever sport he played and did in high school, Auburn/pro Cam’s a slender, shorter version in ways however LeBron’s a complete freak of nature LeBron takes the cake
