Basketball: Do they need to reduce the diameter of the rim or what?

I no longer enjoy watching people shoot 50 three pointers per game.

Shrink the rim?
Change the ball?
Eliminate the corner 3?
Something crazier like they only count for 3 at the end of a half?

None of the above.

It’s just a boring sport to me (and apparently almost 50% of viewership over the last 10 years) nowadays.

Idk how to fix it, but regarding Sga/Luka flopping with tick tack 3pt fouls, but not allowing bulldozer guys play down low is not fun to watch imho.

Increase the width of the floor, expand the 3 pt circle out, and raise the goals 6". I still won't watch it.

Saw a black journalist video about this, he made a great point, the NBA lost an entire generation. He correctly pointed out that White Gen X (Asian & Hispanic) no longer gives a shite about the NBA. Men over that age of 35, no longer talk have water cooler conversations about the NBA. His video didn't get into why, just stating a facts and ratings that show the generation that grew up with Magic/Bird& then MJ no longer care.

You are flat wrong about SGA. But because league rarely shows him on national TV most don’t know. But keep on making stuff up to fit your agenda

quote:

SGA is on pace to become the 6th player since 1980 to average 30+ PPG with less than 8 free throws per a game

There have been 57 seasons of a player averaging 30+ PPG in that time frame

Now Luka, he’s unwatchable due to whining all game long

This is more of an in-person attendance gripe. My gf and I went to a Bulls game a few weeks back and the worst seats in the arena were $100+ after fees.

The league has completely priced out the middle class. The lower bowl was maybe half full, mainly influencer types, and the upper level was where most people were. It was bizarre.

We all know why viewership is down.

Agree that going to games kinda sucks now. They blast you with music and sound effects the entire game so loud that you can’t talk to the person next to you. It’s non stop and drowns out any crowd engagement. It’s also annoying techno rap auto-tuned trash (old man get off my lawn). Prices of food and drink are insane too - especially for the quality.

I'm more what I'd consider Xennial but to me it starts with the fact that the NBA started pushing stars. That sound good in theory and it was when stars stayed with their teams. I never saw Magic or Bird in their prime but did follow Jordan's Bulls, Isiah Thomas's Pistons, Hakeem's Rockets, Drexler's Blazers, etc

Now those stars jump teams every few years, teams don't stick with their players. Does it make for more parity? I guess maybe, but it's less fun to follow.

Be cool to make a semicircle that goes out of bounds.

Once Stockton and Malone retired, I was kinda done. Then the rise of Lebron and his b.s. flopping was the nail for me.

Just for a prank they should reduce the diameter of the rim such that it is a tiny bit too small for the ball to fit.

Reset the rules back to 1985 and let the game get physical again. I think people will watch that.
