I know the guy probably did steroids, but how many people are the same size at 39 years old as they are at 21-24?

The only problem is Bonds from 21-29 was the same size then in his 30's he blew up and now he is smaller again...

really? Is there any actual proof of this or just assumptions and anecdotel evidence?

I was meaning that with workouts included. I don't really know anybody that would take them and not workout. But if your a pro baseball player you probably workout regularly and have multiple personal trainers at your expense

While I generally agree with your post (and I used to say the same thing), I saw a television special on steroids and I was surprised to learn that they do improve a players sight, i.e., hitting eye.

Not significantly, though.

BTW, you are aware that "steriods" refers to many different drugs, right?

I wonder if minus the steroids and allegations had Bonds stayed clean would we be arguing him or Ruth as greatest of All-Time....

(Yes I know we do now but because of steroids Bonds is a bit tarnished)

Watching Bonds play with Pirates he hit for avg, power, and had speed. He was one of top 5 players in MLB during that span.

Bret Boone.

What about him?

Was Roger Maris using in 61?

Which makes his need to use them even more annoying, I can at least understand fringe guys who if they take them can give there families a life of never having to worry about money.

First, we have no idea when Bonds starting juicing, and really only circumstantial evidence he did

His bad speed increased in his late 30's, its a fact and undeniable evidence. No ones bat speed increases naturally in their lat 30's.

Also don't give me this retarded crap about steroids don't make you a better player. Higher bat speed and more power. Easy grounders become singles, pop flys turn into HR's, etc.

growing up Bonds was my favorite player. I love getting in sports debates about it now... People are just so uninformed. They act like Bonds is the only person to juice, not the countless players that weren't worth a damn, the AAA and AA players, you name it. It was the steroid ERA for a reason. "Everyone" did it.

another note, he's the only member of the 500-500 club (500 each of HR's and steals.) Hell, he's the only member of the 400-400 club I'm pretty sure.

I'm not denying that he's a prick... That's why he was my favorite player when I was a kid, not my favorite person.

Then you shouldn't question why everyones picking on him, well and the fact that he broke the most important record in american sports.

why is retarded to question whether steriods cause this to happen? If its true (and I'm not saying its not, I'm asking) Can you offer some kind of actual proof and not just anecdotes which is what you are offering.

I've heard that setroids do not in fact increase fast muscle twitch. It builds bulk, bulk should decrease, not increase bat speed.

I'm not questioning why everyone is picking on him. I'm just saying the average person is uninformed when it comes to the situation, they just act like Bonds is the only person to do it and have no knowledge of the upper echelon talent that he possessed.

if setroids improve performance, why did they not improve the performance of these guys? If the consensus about steriods is correct, there should be no such thing as a guy who used and wasn't worth a damn.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain why Roger Maris could hit 61 with out steroids, but other guys could not.

Confirmed steroid players had career years far beyond anything they ever had while on steroids. I'm not sure what more proof you need.

If I can find the link to the article, it shows how Bonds bat speed increased in his late 30's, that just doesn't happen, its physically impossible unless you use PED's.
