It’s completely dependent on Manning’s eventual replacement.. what if they draft or sign someone better.. or someone that’s steady and leads them to one or more Super Bowls while the jets win nothing

To add: this board and it’s pac12 bias trashed darnold all year. There was a thread earlier about how bad he is that was well received.

Winston Cup believed in Darnold and his footwork from the gods

The OP isn’t an indictment on Barkley, it speaks more to the importance of a qb over a running back. Especially considering the Giants position with Eli Manning.

FWIW, I think mayfield #1 is comical as well.

The ability to get running backs later makes it such a silly pick by the Giants. Last year Hunt and Kamara were 3rd round pick rookies and they were two of the best rbs in all of football.

While Eli remains mediocre for 3 years... No you’re wrong

The reason it was dumb, was that Eli isn't getting younger, and is regressing. So why not let him sit for a season(eli a fa next season?) or trade eli, and let ur qb have these targets for next years

Giants going all in for this and next season. Then they will be fighting for top2 picks yearly

We haven't had a run game since Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw. That has constantly messed us up since our last super bowl 2012. If we still suck, who cares, we can draft another QB. Barkley is generational. You're acting like Darnold is a god over one game. Eli is obviously inconsistent and at the end of his career but he is a guy you know is capable of taking you to the end. Drafting Darnold effectively makes you give up for the next 3 years and waste Odell, Landon Collins, etc

You don't think a FA QB would sign to play with those weapons rather quickly?
