Welsh rider was attempting to catch up to the Peloton when he was struck by a spectator’s car.

Spectator waited til the peloton had passed and then turned and hit Tarling head on. Truly awful news and prayers for the family and his team who ended up having to finish the race after learning he had passed away.

Poor race direction. The blame falls completely on the Race Directors shoulders

100% on race organization. Something like that should never happen. Horrible.

The Guy either had a flat, mechanical, or had to take a whiz, and was trying to catch the main group. Why a team car or team mates wasn't back there with him to bring him back to the pack is unknown. Maybe they were. The Race Director should've had a Referee with the Rider to ensure no cheating was taking place, and Police on a Motorcycle back there for crowd control . In Europe it's not uncommon to open the road to traffic immediately after the Peloton passes., but all the Riders have to be accounted for.

Josh Tarling’s younger brother

Absolute shame, can’t imagine being on NSN and having to finish that stage
