Yeah I’d rather have Fried in a scenario where a Ozuna trade leads to a fried contract. Sure we can find another A+ teammate that can never be put in the field.

Don’t get me wrong he isn’t bad he isnt amazing he is mostly fairly good most of the time but I’m strictly talking in the confines of the above. If we have decided to move on from fried no matter what then yeah keep him since as I laid in my long post him and Travis offensive numbers are within % of being a wash

Shuster shouldn’t even be on the bubble. Give me Ozuna all day, every day, bad contract and all. Even when he’s not producing for himself, he’s an A+ teammate.

Do you think an expansion team would take Ozuna for 1 yr/$16M with his off the field history over 6 years Shuster? Maybe but I think it would be an interesting decision.

We probably will have an expansion draft at some point in the next 3-5 years which will be a very interesting exercise.

The entire clubhouse adores him.

Grissom officially recalled with Ozzie on the IL.

Can’t wait to see the freak out when Grissom is in the lineup over Lopez tonight.

People acting like a 22 year old who has been one of the 5 best hitters in AAA over the last month and a half should be sitting behind a utility guy who has had 2 good games is incredible content.

Not even. They wouldn’t take Ozuna at all at his age and that price. But I’m confused about this exercise. Is it completely hypothetical?

Cause in real life, even if they announced an expansion team(s) this offseason, it’d be probably be ‘26 by the time they opened their inaugural season. And it’s not like they could draft guys until right before that season. Anyway, by the time this draft would come around, Ozuna would be long-gone from Atlanta and TDA would likely be retired. That whole list somebody typed out would be completely different. It’d have a lot more AJSS, Owen Murphy, Waldrep type guys.

If it’s just a thought exercise though, and the draft were the day after the World Series, you don’t protect Ozuna or TDA. In fact, you HOPE somebody takes Ozuna. Love how he’s turned it around this year and how that’s lengthened the lineup, but what are the odds he can repeat that another year older? And he can’t play a position. Please take that $16 million of our books. We need to sign or trade for an everyday LF this off-season anyway.

They may would actually draft TDA to be that veteran presence who could be a clubhouse leader, but more importantly, help develop a young pitching staff. I’d hate to lose him. But if you can only protect 15, a 34-year-old back up is terrible value to take one of those spots.

Outside the one dude on crack that wanted Looez to start over Eddie in left, Is anyone acting like this?

On a 1/$16M deal, an expansion team would be interested. No long term damage on a one year deal, he still has some pop in his bat, and despite the off field stuff, he is clearly a beloved clubhouse guy. A team with a bunch of young Latin players, for example, would definitely be interested.

Who was the last expansion team, the Rays? Rockies and Marlins before that? Regardless, it’s been so long I don’t remember, but I don’t think they entered the league ready to compete. And Ozuna’s contract only makes sense to a team competing. And it would be a terrible waste of a team’s limited expansion draft picks. 1 year of control? They’d take younger guys with more team control. Ozuna would be a non-starter.

Like the Pittsburgh Pirates for instance.

Speaking of the Pirates, does anybody know the contract status of Brian Reynolds. I wonder how he would fit on our team if we were ever to part with Ozuna/Rosario

IMO, why not stick Ozuna in LF for a game, DH Grissom, and keep Tricky Nicky at 2nd.

Ozuna's defense in left, while horrendous, is no worse than Grissom's at 2B/SS, and arguably less impactful depending on the pitcher.

In Bowman’s responses there are several people acting like we would be benching Pete Rose

They have him locked up through 2030 for something 8/$110M. One of the best contracts in the sport. He has been a discussion of Braves trade rumors before but it seems like he's going to be the veteran they try to build their next contender around.

Vaughn’s defense at 2B is just fine.

Too bad about Reynolds. At least its a contract we could afford to take on in a year or two. I don't expect the Ozuna/Rosario combo to be here after next season. Not sure what Rosario's contract status is

Rosario will likely be gone after this season (has a team option that I do not expect to be picked up) and Ozuna will likely be gone after 2024.
