This was not the sentiment from Braves fans in the thread for Game 1.

Broski bringing that rally energy. Like it. Hopefully we got our shite game out of the way and we come out and play loose and blast Wheeler early and often.

Saturday at the park felt weird. Crowd felt nervous and kind of lacked energy from the get go. I’m sure the players were as ready to go as possible but there may be something to the week layoff while the wild card winner keeps it going with a couple games and still gets a couple days off that MLB needs to look. But that’s for another time. Tonight Fried deals and the bats come alive.

No shite. That game sucked. This is NOT the Game 1 thread. Game 1 is over. This is the Game 2 thread.

Teams with first round byes are currently 1-5. These are the teams with the best records in baseball.

That being said, Braves in 4.

I would feel better about it if we lost a shootout game 1. The offense just didn't show up at all though.

That said, Braves in 5. Don't think we win both in Philly but also don't think we lose 2 in Atlanta if it goes the distance

Bad day to be a Phillie.

ETA: dear Phillies fans - downvote if you’d pay money to eat my arse.

Not me...if I had to pick a scenario then I would prefer what happened Saturday.

1) last year we lost game 1 in a shootout...lost the series so I'm not sure it makes a difference the way you think it does

2)_ To win the series we still need Strider on his A game, which I think he was in Game 1. I feel more confident going into his Game 4 start if we get there knowing that he took care of business for the most part. The throwing error and the catcher's interference plays were flukey and led to 2 of the runs. Only had the one real mistake pitch.

3) I'm confident the offense won't get shut down like that again. I think they'll be good enough to win 2 Fried starts and a Strider start.

I only prefer a shootout because that's a decent indicator that our bats at least haven't gone cold.

Meant to ask this earlier but at the game we obviously thought the catcher's interference call was bullshite. We didn't even know what was even going on for a minute and then during the review they kept showing a closeup and it didn't look like Murphy's glove moved at all, but I also couldn't see actual space between glove and bat so I knew they weren't going to overturn the call. It also looked like the ump didn't call it until Realmuto started bitching for a call. What did it look like on TV / what did the announcers say?

It hit his glove strings barely but it did hit them. Murphy said he heard it but didn’t feel it

Ump called it immediately.

You couldn’t see anything on the replay but you also couldn’t conclusively say it didn’t happen. The announcers thought it would get overturned but it didn’t.

Honestly, the way Murphy reacted kind of tells you it did happen and if you can’t actually see space between the glove and the bat then I think they got it right.

Jomboy has a video that shows the strings of the glove were hit. Sucks but was the right call.
