Let me start off by saying, I get it, without sponsors, we wouldn’t be able to watch sporting events from home. I understand the dynamic.

I think it’s just the amount of commercials that’s a big drag on watching games. You get a few minutes of action…commercial… a couple minutes later… another commercial. Rinse and repeat.

Not trying to bitch about something we have no control over. Just wish they could have more action and less ads.

I can’t stand it either…it’s ruining sports for me…so I think at some point, there’s going to have to be a fine line…it’s just getting toooo out of control. Ironically…of all the dam sports, it’s why soccer is a sport I can actually watch…No TV timeouts!!!

All I know is the last 2 minutes, specifically the last minute of a CBB game that’s within 10-15pts is fricking unbearable. The fricking fouls, the timeouts, the TV timeouts. Dear lord make it stop.

I saw a team down 14 the other night with 30 seconds left, still fouling. Just, frick you, I hate you.

Rant over.

Try watching a NHL game. Constant annoying flashing ads on the boards and ice. Which is why I have been watching less.

It's actually way better than it was 20 years ago.

I've seen teams just say frick it down 15 with a minute to play and let the opposition dribble it out in this tournament.

I saw a Coach K Duke team in the 90s down 15 with like the same amount of seconds left just foul T.O., foul TV timeout, foul, inbounds foul....TV timeout... Even Coach K admitted, the philosophy is to extend the game. Well they still lost the game by 15... But it took 20 minutes.

In women’s college basketball and in the NBA, with the quarters arrangement for the game, bonus occurs after 5 fouls but resets after 10 minutes.

Men’s college basketball is 7 fouls in 20 minutes. They need to extend the bonus threshold to limit the number of free throws shot. Will this make the whole difference? No, but it should help a little.

I agree with this. Also, the commentators barely talk. It's just the game and most of the time just a handful of camera angles.

This is why I love watching European sports. Almost no commercials...darts, soccer, rugby, cricket, etc

Getting harder and harder for me to watch American sports after getting into premier league soccer a few years ago for this exact reason. No commercials is freaking awesome.

I’ve become a big fan of soccer, and it’s great that every game lasts about the same amount of time. No commercial breaks. No TV timeouts. The clock keeps running.

Every game will be roughly 2 hours. Kickoff starts on the dot, 45 minutes later you’re approaching halftime. 15 minutes for halftime. Then 45 more minutes plus extra time. You can look at your watch without ever having watched the game and know almost exactly where they’re at in the game. It’s way better than the constant breaks in other sports.

Football in general..

What's funny is now the leagues have all but neutered the kickoff in football, but they'll never actually remove it because its another excuse for them to go Commercial - One play - Commercial

It's ruined sports in the house for me. My wife now loathes TV sports. She'll go happily in person to all the events but she can't stand to watch them on TV.

I love Hockey for that reason. It pretty much never stops. The ads on the boards changing have been a huge adjustment and can be distracting as of late.

In the house? Try in the stadium. At least at home 3-5 minutes is long enough to go grab a beer or take a leak. That time is long enough to get from your seat to the isle or maybe to the concourse in the stadium.

It’s just dead time. It’s fricking awful. If highschool football was higher level, it would be the best version to watch.

Why can’t they have banner ads like they have banner stats on TV? Wall/Banner sponsors ringing the field, other things that don’t completely kill the flow of the game.

Soccer is fun to watch because of this. Basketball and football would be incredible to watch because of this.

I know how soccer is viewed by the majority here, but it’s 45+ minutes of uninterrupted viewing for each half.

Along with officiating, ads have pushed me away from most NFL and college football games. The days of me just sitting in front of the TV all Saturday and going from game to game to game are done.

Sure we do. The answer is to not watch. The TV networks won't change anything until customers change their viewing habits. We all lament the radical changes to college football too, but we still watch.
