It sends the wrong message. You can't just sue to get what you want when you're in the wrong. These kids should be forced to go to the dome and watch, then clean the stands after everybody goes home.

The Louisiana Legislature cannot dictate how the organization that oversees high school sports in the state determines whether players can participate in its events, according to the state Supreme Court. The court's ruling defines the Louisiana High School Athletic Association as a private entity, striking down state laws that regulated player eligibility and required the organization to allow home-schooled students to participate in sporting events.

I don't think they get to play.

It's done. They're finished.

I've explained this before. That case only deals with the public records doctrine - that's it. LHSAA is a semi public institution. Courts both in Louisiana and around the country have found so consistently.

When will the appeal be heard?

Is St. James practicing as if they will face Amite Friday night? Where was the game suppose to be played?

Already heard. Ruling upheld.

St James was still coducting regular practice as of yesterday.

Game would have been in Amite.

St. James is still practicing and preparing for Amite. They expect to play on Friday, based on what Bonine told the HC and school principal during their meeting today.

Damn, I feel bad for the seniors on the team.

My question is, will the LHSAA members be present for the hearing Friday morning, or will the judge be basing his decision solely on what the TSB attorney says?

The referees who filed the game report should be there.

The officials will be asked if they can decisively confirm, without a doubt, that all players from Amite's team left the sidelines. They will then respond that they recall most of the players leaving the bench, but that in the ensuing chaos they are not 100% confident that all players left the bench. They will also say that , due to the madness, they couldn't identify exactly which players left the bench. Judge will then rule in Amite's favor due to the speculative nature of the events. Boom

After seeing what I saw Friday night these officials couldn't write a competent report. Game was stopped for 20 minutes at the end of the 3rd quarter because they couldn't get the chains set, where the ball was to be placed, or what down it was supposed to be after a bad snap that went 15-20 yards behind the Amite QB. Ball got away but they threw a flag for a false start. Worst officiated game that I've ever watched and I've seen a lot.

I read that it was Thibodaux Association refs, so that explains it. We have some of the worst if not the worst officials in the state down here.

We had a similar incident to the one you described vs Hahnville this season. Hville roughed our kicker on a punt and they threw a flag, but the ref had already singled to move the chains. They huddled for 15 minutes pointing at the ground trying to figure out where the line of scrimmage was, and eventually just gave up and waved the flag off because they couldn't figure it out. It looked just like the "you left your mic on" state farm commercial.

I wish. I'm almost always impressed when I go watch games outside the area and see the quality of the officiating and the flow of the game. Games down here the refs often kill momentum by huddling up and debating calls.
