ULM gave him an actual chance when other schools passed on him, then some booster for Mizzou paid him to leave.
Exhibit ‘A’ as to why in this so called NIL era, we need to bring back the sit a season when you transfer rule. Make the booster/trial lawyer have to pay a kid for a year that he can’t play, and the kid has to think twice about transferring.
Right now it’s all BS.

I disagree. He gave ULM a good season. They don't own him.

You’re right. They don’t own him.
He should be allowed to transfer, but he ought to sit a year. All transfers should be required to is my point.

Why? Why hold the kid back? I think you're being selfish.

If you change jobs for more money are you required to sit a year? Universities turned themselves into money making corporations. For all intents and purposes the athletes are independent contractors. That benefits the universities as much as the athletes in legal terms. People seem to lose sight of reality when discussing "tradition". Rules for thee but not for me.

Agree with that sentiment. So NCAA/universities should make it where athletes have to sit a year, and if those athletes don’t want to, then they can “go pro” and unenroll.
Not holding the kid back. The “kid” (he/she is an adult) can go do whatever they want.
But hey, get paid and sit a year. Is it that complicated, other than both the payor and payee just have to give it an extra 5 minutes of thought vs what it is now?

In most lucrative careers there are non competes as well as non solicitations

Non competes are rarely worth the paper they are written on. And considering how much money is at stake, the “employee” will actually be willing to dispute it and throw it out.
Also, there are some states that view them as unenforceable and would automatically throw out any suit on summary judgement. So you’d basically help stack teams in those States until the rest of the country adapts.

We laugh and call Billy Napier "Sunbelt Billy". I don't hear anyone calling this kid "Sunbelt Ahmad". Why are we so mean to Billy?

If we go back to Michigan buying away your former recruit Bryce Underwood you’re going to have this same response, right?

Maybe because one has been successful and the other often looks like a doofus while his team continues to lose

What’s bullshite is that there is no compensation from Missouri to ULM.
It’s minor league baseball except the major league in this version does basically nothing to subsidize the smaller school. And no, the completely tilted CFP revenue doesn’t come close especially since the G5 and FCS schools are taking the brunt of the settlement to pay P5 athletes.
The whole system is fricked, but that’s life. The rich get richer

How did he go unnoticed to end up at ULM to begin with?

Thanks for confirming that answer to the original question is “no”

Vincent literally brought him to Monroe with the idea he could go somewhere else. It’s the way the world works now. Sucks but is what it is.

You’ve never had to sign a non compete for a job before? Not even close to an apples to apples comparison.

I’m pissed Hardy not at ULM… but it is what it is when you start paying them… the sit a year was antiquated… when coaches making million of dollars with buyout clauses of generational wealth this what was bound to happen
Posted on 10/11/25 at 5:23 pm to ragincajun03
And if he didn’t work out, ULM would’ve pulled his scholarship and dropped him like a hot potato. He owes them no loyalty.

After Ole Miss stole lacey, from Missouri, although Missouri got the way better deal. lacey has to have room, hardy makes his own room.
mu coaches only giving hardy the ball 12 times was a big reason for the loss.
Hardy is a beast.
