NBA is the league where 1 player can make that much of a difference.

There are teams now that can be the worst team in the league for literally years and not get the best player. That's stupid.

I just don’t understand how this is actually a problem when it wasn’t for years. Is the real problem “There are too many games given the players current attitudes and how the organizations handle tanking?” Cause then I understand.

The highest non playoff team gets 1st pick. Make them compete for something. After 8 years of no playoff appearances we can sell your franchise or you can may an enormous fine, like 50% valuation of your team.

Wouldn’t be getting as much news if this draft and last weren’t absolutely loaded with franchise altering players.

Also Danny Ainge is a scum bag

Let my Wizards have some success for once.

I say drop the records, give everyone one ping pong ball. No matter their record every team can finish 1-30
Zero reward for tanking. Pure random luck where you end up
Its the same teams every year in the lottery- pels, wizards, kings…. F em

Then you would have the middle of the league tanking instead of just the bottom 5 or so teams. Why try to get that 8 seed just to get swept by the Thunder when you could instead have a chance at a top 4 pick?

NBA is in the trouble. It’s a bad product. Star players aren’t playing with load management. Or, maybe I got old haha.

The problem is draft pick protections.

Utah Jazz are tanking because OKC owns their pick in this year's draft unless it's top 8.

Getting rid of the draft would kill teams like NOLA, OKC, Utah, etc. Lakers, Celtics, Knicks, etc. would be stacked.

similar to what the league will have to do with the 3 pointer.

I know it won't ever happen, but I almost wish every level would get rid of the 3 pointer. Not saying that everyone needs to go back to position basketball, but I think getting rid of the 3 point line could push basketball towards being a watchable product.

No, the real problem is there are too many teams. There are not enough elite players to fill out 30 rosters. Contract down to 24 teams and the product would get infinitely better. Unfortunately, contraction will never happen in any pro sports league.

Players not playing every game is a bigger problem. Tie the contracts into games played and that will change.

Wanna get rid of tanking? Penalize the tanking teams by reducing revenue share. They’ll already be hurting in other revenue categories but revenue share is enough to keep them happy. Reduce revenue share and they’ll stop tanking and start trying to field a team that gives effort and puts butts in seats

We’d be circling back to the 1985 lottery where the Knicks got Ewing and the team with the worst record (Warriors?) ended up late in the lottery.

Reduce games and your starters can play more.

But yes contraction would also handle that problem.
