The question is where he ranks all time for defensive players and if it's in the top-5.

Donald is in the rarefied air of the all-time greats.

Kinda surprised more don't do it. He's made a ton of money, if he has invested properly he is set for life, and his body has taken a lot of abuse.

Maybe he wants to be able to age and not have his body totally fall apart.

Yeah, you only live once, and he has generational wealth. Enjoy the remaining 50 years.

Truly an all time great. Has to be the best DT of his generation.

He’s only 32 years old and still playing at the highest level. His retirement comes as a surprise to me. I would think he has at least 2-3 very good years left of him dominating.

No question.

The question is if he's the best DI in NFL history.

As I get older, it is wild to me that these athletes in their early 30's have already completed their life's work and made generational wealth and established legacies that will stand in history. Much respect to Donald.

He strongly considered it after they won the Super Bowl in 2021, IIRC

He's a super bowl champ, 3x DPOY, 10x Pro Bowler, and a first ballot HOFer, he doesn't have anything left to do

Fletcher Cox was basically an all time DT and really never was in the same conversation as Donald. Just insane how good Donald was.
