I would say "latish" June -not end of June. And I'm sure the seniors get out earlier than the other grades.

I work in a school and the last day this year is June 23rd same day as Graduation

I just couldn't imagine letting my teammates down by not showing up for a playoff game. I understand senior year prom is important to girls but they have all probably already been to a prom or two. If they actually contribute to the success of the team, it would bother me forever that I let my teammates down and that my last game I didn't even play.

Yeah, I hear you there. I could easily see myself skipping a sport I was just passing the time with for prom.

But a third of the team doing it seems odd. Especially if they play. On the other hand if it’s a really good young team and they’re all seniors, meh, go to prom if that’s the memory you value.

OK. Not sure what you are trying to say. That is not the end of June and I doubt the seniors attended class/exams up until that very day.

Well for one it’s literally a once in a lifetime opportunity. For everyone. Duh

So is a fricking state championship.

As others have said, prom is a dry run for a girl’s wedding day.

When I was a soccer referee assignor, no way was I getting any of my female refs to work the morning of their prom. Homecoming in the fall is quickly catching up with prom in that regard.
