Preece gets redemption from Daytona and gets the win. Great comeback after that wreck at the end of stage 1

Trackhouse with zero cars in the chase. Going to be a lot of soul searching over there, they’ve been slow all year.

Maybe Justin marks should spend more time with his bread and butter and less with the motorcycles.

Just watched the highlights of the race. What a hit by Hocevar and great finish by Preece. Sucks for SVG that the only thing to keep him out of the chase happened.

How was the overall racing product with the new package?

Felt better, but not convinced that the sunshine the broadcast was pumping was accurate.

I like junior’s idea to cut the chase field to 10.

The last guy with even a remote chance is Logano in 9th. If they want anybody to care about the cut line it needs to be 10, not 16.

I enjoyed it. Thought it was a fun race.

I think that’s what makes this so hard to stomach for me. It was like watching bama drive down and score with 11 seconds left in 2012.

Did everything to advance. And the only thing that could beat him beat him.

I like the 2011 model. Top ten plus 2 wild cards. Top ten in points. Most wins from 11th-20th.

Your wild cards would’ve been SVG and Suarez. Suarez would’ve beaten Hocevar by 3 points to get in. Buescher would’ve been in by a single point. William Byron and Bubba would have missed it.

That’s a much more entertaining battle than 16th vs 17th.

Absolutely heartbreaking for SVG

In hindsight, that Coronado race was absolutely pivotal. Hill wrecked SVG early ruining his likely win while Preece got stage points in both stages finishing 2nd and 1st respectively while ultimately finishing 11th.

Well, can’t wait to see how this package performs in Talladega in October

Trackhouse also unloaded 30th place cars at Kansas, Chicagoland, Pocono, Michigan, Iowa, etc. Denny Hamlin couldn’t drag those cars much higher than they finished.

Coronado was a flat out missed opportunity. But take ten positions off those finishes at all those tracks, and this wouldn’t have been close.

I’ll watch but I’m checked out on the season.

This package was supposed to turn Speedway races into something other than fuel mileage races.

It didn't do that. I think we are headed in the right direction though via Hocevar's dump late in the race. With the less downforce, the car just got away from him. This is the way.

Make the drivers actually have to DRIVE the car.

Trackhouse has some soul searching to do over the off season. They have to get those cars more competitive.

I have so many comments. Happy for Preece and gutted for SVG. Like both drivers too bad they both couldn't make it in. Remember, Nascar took 25 pts from Preece which I disagreed with at the time so I’m glad he overcame that.

And SVG team shoulda pitted extra for fuel before last stage. Or rode in middle more. Hendrick fricked up their strategy too

Hate that fuel played a part. I said earlier in season make SS track cars 15 gallon tanks vice 20 and you fix the problem. It became all fuel strategy that determined this race again. That means engineers decided the outcome not drivers. Hate it.

Booth was shite. First stage they just jabber so much while cars end up single file mostly. And never once showed cut line until 10 to go. Did bad in showing group cars way back of lead group. Talking how great racing was. The only real racing was Chase making dive bomb moves in stage 2. Had a great car but top lane was bad at stage endings and they messed up nit getting him to bottom lane seeing train coming.

This package sucks. Right idea to reduce rear spoiler but wrong in reducing HP. Also they redid front bumper so no one bump drafted.

As for the idea of top 10 plus 2 wildcards I like that idea. But in this new format anyone can win. 16 is only 100 behind leader and only 75 behind 2nd. Points don’t reset for 10 races so you could have a bottom 10-16 team winning it all. Little gap from 3rd on down in big scheme of things. I hate that Logano could steal another fake title.

Didn’t watch race til this morning as I watched football. Years past I’d never miss a race live but more and more I watch tape delay, and speed thru commercials. They used to run driver standings across top. Moved to left side so they can use the 11-20 spots for more fricking commercials in that box. I am more and more recording sports to speed thru them. Amazing how much less time it takes to watch sports now.

Poor Blaney got hit for no reason.
Also, sucks for Berry. If he hadn’t gotten that damage at the end he’d had a top five finish

Really? That’s great news. I thought there was fuel saving and single file racing just from reading the posts.

They were feeling it out most of Stage 1 but the rest of the race was really good plate racing.

Pretty sure Bell just hates plate racing in general judging from his comments last night.

Shane handled defeat far better than anyone else would have.

“We blew our chances before tonight. We haven’t been good enough. It shouldn’t come down to one race.”

Do you wish Preece ran out of fuel?

“I don’t wish misfortune on anyone.”

Shane’s a hard guy to root against. Though I’m clapping at all the motherfrickers celebrating him missing the chase.

True. But road courses are the only reason he even has a chance to be in it. So even though I like him I don’t care that much.

I don’t see the love for Hocevar. Young Kyle Busch without the talent.
