Even if the roads help him get closer, he is without a doubt getting better at ovals. It’s to the point where it’s a debate whether trackhouse is holding him back.

I think that’s a compliment considering he barely has 2.5 years on paved ovals.

He’s not wrong. There is no buzz, no writing no posts just blankness. When Nascar controls the press this is what you get. No one wants to discuss the race and those were what used to make it so popular, day after conversations. This series is really at bottom. They ruined the car.

NOAP and Trucks get more discussion because they happen a day before Cup so naturally are talked about. But Cup is so dead discussion wise. Opposing writers have gotten out of the sport due heavy hand of Nascar taking press passes away and working behind the scenes to get them fired. Now all you have fluff pieces written by Nascar approved writers.

@whatsundersteer

It has always boggled my mind that the entire Nascar industry shuts down the day after each race. It’s always been like this. And I understand from the driver/team perspective, but not from the media standpoint.

No content. No reaction. No analysis. Hell even the post race show directly after the race was a give up. Only person who has put any effort into anything is Matt Weaver.

The race just wasn’t all that good. The smaller spoiler made them move around a bit more but these cars just handle too well for this track now with the reduced power. They need to be going 215+. They “big one” kind of happened on the last lap but most of the racing was boring.

Yes, they changed front ends so if you bump it damages it. And Chase had only real passes for most part. But those only happened because they weren’t stacked 2 wide. Majority of race they are lined in 2 rows which prevents that or all fuel saving in one congo line.

A lot of YouTube channels as well that do analysis after the race, NASCAR news during the week, and sometimes call up drivers for their input.

I grew up watching Eric’s NASCAR stopmotion videos. He was the best on YT imo. I used to watch his analysis and news videos too, but it got to be too time consuming. Anyway, I’m glad his endeavors in the NASCAR world are paying off. He’s put in the work.

My beard just gained 5 gray hairs reading that. Lol. I discovered his channel around 2019-2020. He’s good.

I used to go to Jayski back in the day. He was always on top of any article about Nascar and gave a one sentence summary and a link to site. There were so many and it was one stop shopping. Most are no longer in business.

And Sunday was a day after Chase lineup was set yet nothing about it ir how drivers might do. There is a very small pool of Nascar reporters/writers and they mostly are puff pieces towing Nascar line. No real reporting now except for a very few who won’t say anything bad.

There was a site called Racing Stalkers and you had to figure out who to email to ask permission to post. They were honest fans and had a writer amongst them who was honest about races. I posted there some but it eventually just died because of no one figuring out how to sign up. The site owners got old and just didn’t care anymore

I know this is a stupid question, but I’ve always wondered how Jayski’s Silly Season actually got that name? Why is it a silly season?

In the early 2010s I was a member on this NASCAR message board called Diecast Crazy. Everyone showed off their new diecast adds, hero cards, sheet metal, race weekend photos, really anything racing related. I even remember linking TD so the admins could get some better ideas for the site layout and accessibility. The race day threads when I first became a member were busy and fun but slowly died out as the years wore on. I haven’t been there since 2019. Have y’all ever heard of it?

Jayski is short for his long arse name lol

He started it because all the rumors every year of drivers leaving and coming and decided to call it silly season since most were not verified at the time just rumors. He was also a big fan of Kenseth before he got that one race sub for Bill Elliott and eventually a full time ride. But he was so popular most of his rumors were true

He realized there were so many sources of info and decided to one line recap and link them all. And it didn’t take long for fans to start using his site to find them. He also did it all by himself. He had so many sources in a short time everyone wanted to get listed on his site to drive traffic to their own.

Then he just started adding mega stats. To this day he has the most comprehensive stats anywhere. At some point it was so popular Nascar realized hardly anyone was using Nascsr dot com. So they made him an offer he could not refuse and he sold it but retained rights to updating. Then they linked his site on their nascar site. It went downhill a bit because fans hated nascar so much they didn’t want to go their site to get to it or gi anywhere associated with nascar. Some called him a sellout but regardless it slowly got less traffic plus internet caught up in searches features,

Eventually Nascar let him post his site alone again. And he’s slowly built it back but it will never be as good as the old days when it was practically the only place you went for nascar news and linked from there. Nascar still owns but he runs. And I’m sure he gets some type cut for clicks. I think his son or family members do most updating now. But all his historical data is priceless
