yea 7.58 is a really good time for a 7th grader, not a 10th grader

As a freshman he was the starting 1B for a 5A varsity team that won 33 games. Are there 20 freshmen who did more?
I get the value in measurables but sometimes a kid can just play.

Sam’s 28 class is unreal. Catholics 28 is also very good, plus they had a couple good players transfer into that class this year.
Barbe 2028 class maybe the weakest Barbe class ever - but it’s sandwiched between 2 good Barbe classes.
correct, except barbes 27 class is really top heavy. but yea their 28 class is extremely weak. Luckily the class behind them is crazy deep and they will be seniors when the 2031 class gets there which will end up being one of the best to get to Barbe.
now SH is decent in 2030, 1-2 top level kids, but really weak in 2031 and beyond. Although...I did hear that one of the 2 really good kinder kids for 2031 is transferring and I saw he changed his high school to Sam Houston on PG and PBR....so might be a case where they go outside the foot print to bring in the kids they need.

LO was loaded last year, the catcher was bas a$$, an OF went to NW, #1 Pitcher to ULL, scattering of JUCO and CC players, 2026 lefty that looked good.
PBR don't go that deep on sophomores unless you are at Catholic or Sam Houston where they seem to camp out. Not saying he's not a good player, he is, I've seen him in person. Don't imagine he will stay at 1st this spring.
PBR's ranking can be very suspect, there are countless debatable Ott's in each class, but they are the best in Louisiana in what they do, glad they do it.

Yea riverdawgs are very good, wm bulldawgs, gold culture, swamp donkeys are all very good. Knights from Monroe pretty good too.
The stud from riverdawgs is best player in the state imo. Great kid and great family. I think he is the WM kid
Having played all these teams multiple times in the last year, the Riverdogs were the best of the bunch. That said, WM and SD had some big pickups from the 2030 class. That SD lineup is murders row now if they keep the 2030 Port City kid fulltime.

yea RD is but the 2030 kid from port city isnt playing with SD full time, not close and neither is the cenla kid. both playing for wildcatters elite mainly and the sox crown team.
the port city kid....yea him throwing 82 last year as a 12 year old from 50 feet.....laughable. But in PGI kids could hit it if he only threw fastball, even at the equivalent of 99.2 kids could hit it, but when he mixes in the deadly slider....yea its crazy.
very very young for the 2030 class.
when SD is playing full strength with those two kids along with the 2 other big boys they have...they are better than RD.

100% and a lot of the ranking is projectability and metrics more so than game play
btw here is the final preseason rankings

Seen Ott at Live Oak a bunch and kid is a player. Maybe not top 20, not sure he was even best sophomore on the field last night vs St Michael, but I want him on my team. PBR has great coverage , but are all over the place on younger kids. Tend to just rank the pitchers high because velo is easy to measure.

Doesn't see the field if Weller hadn't left for Barbe.

Happy opening day to everyone!! Enjoy the season....as we know, it goes by way too fast.
Barbe scrimmaged at STM saturday. Jordin Griffin had two home runs, not sure of final score.
anyone got a list of tournaments this week?
I know in SWLA the Mike Willis tournament starts thursday and will be played in Sulphur, Sam Houston, and Barbe.
Barbe has The Bennet school, Opelousas Catholic and airline. i think they also have Beaumont kelly according to the max preps schedule.
Sam Houston has Beaumont Kelly, the bennet school, neville and airline.
sulphur has neville, airline, St Eds
not sure on times as the max preps schedule has 2 games starting at once so hard to tell
for those not familiar The Bennet School is the new baseball academy in Houston. They use the alpha program that some of the other big baseball academies on the east coast use to teach. It uses AI to teach accelerated learning with use emphasis on act prep and has been producing 30+ act way more than traditional means. But they only go to school for 3 hours max per day, usually between 2-3. then they do 5-6 hours of baseball training. SO very similar to how the MLB academies in DR handle things but actually good teaching in terms of education.
they are supposed to be absolutely stacked but this is the first year for the school i think. Guess we will see this weekend as the games against Barbe and SH will challenge them.
barbe and SH really challenging themselves before district with lots of games against big texas schools.

BM is in the Zachary tournament. They get French Settlement and Zachary on Thurs and St Michael on Friday. I don't expect to learn much.
They play Teurlings at SLU next week then Brenham TX, Crowley TX, Sulphur, and Concordia Lutheran all in Sulphur the following weekend. This stretch will probably say alot about this year's team.

BM should win all three of those games.
DT vs UHIGH the best of the opening games tonight.

They got one hit against St. Michael's. Will need to play a lot better to stay with JC.
