What is going on at Teurling , I don’t think anyone saw a 2-4 start.

Romero is insane

But his coach is an idiot. No way you let a kid with that future who throws 90 plus throw 114 pitches in February

Scores
UHIGH 9-5 vs DT
STA 12-6 vs ED White
Luther 13-4 vs Cath PC
St Michael 12-2 vs ES
Central 13-2 vs Dunham
Walker 10-0 vs West Fel
Mandeville 8-0 vs Pville
Doyle 10-7 vs Denham
The 1 hit Live Oak got was a routine pop up and the outfielder tripped. LO didn't get an actual hit.

BM should win all three of those games.

DT vs UHIGH the best of the opening games tonight.
Seen Ott at Live Oak a bunch and kid is a player. Maybe not top 20, not sure he was even best sophomore on the field last night vs St Michael, but I want him on my team. PBR has great coverage , but are all over the place on younger kids. Tend to just rank the pitchers high because velo is easy to measure.
Sam’s 28 class is unreal. Catholics 28 is also very good, plus they had a couple good players transfer into that class this year.
Barbe 2028 class maybe the weakest Barbe class ever - but it’s sandwiched between 2 good Barbe classes.
Some jamboree/ scrimmage scores from tonight

Catholics beat ED White 13-4
WM beat Ruston 8-2
St Michael beat Live Oak 6-4

Some asked who has the best 27’ Class. That is a hard question to answer. The 27’ class loaded at the top in State. But it’s not strong in BR.
When they were freshman it looked like STA had a great class. But it hasn’t developed that way. I lean toward Central. Catholic’s got better getting Live Oaks best player, but he is the only good position player in that class for them.

I know you guys have seen some of these 2031 kids, but be careful thinking Baton Rouge is loaded in 2031. Every year people think the young class they see is loaded. If you around high school baseball you will know that the Freshman class coming in is always supposed to be one of the best classes the school has had. Everyone falls trap to that. Now we are saying it about 8th grade classes.

But one thing is correct , Catholic is going to get the majority of good players in BR. That will always be true. the 27 class is the only one in last few years that wasn't the best in the area. But even that class some good players.

Coaches Pitch. Pay baseball the right way. No excuse to play a LH SS past Tball.

It's fun to learn who the other kids are and watch them grow up and follow how they are doing. Plus if your kid is good, you will pick up. I feel like mine has played with a kid at half the high school's in the state. Don't worry about the 1 or 2 guys who are taking shots.

On the Lake Charles area , everyone gets on Barbe for recruiting (they do). But Sam is recruiting just as hard , several of those 28 kids are not from their area.

ACL running bases.

Catholic will be good. But if they win state it will be Bass’s best coaching job ever. 26 was not there best class. And 27’ has a couple arms but one of the weakest class’s CHS has had in years.
Have some really good young players in the pipeline. But nothing like Sam Houston.

No way Catholic High should be number 2. They will be good and will have a shot at state in 5a Private. But they are nowhere near the Catholic they have been. Losing their ace for the season really hurt. They have catcher issues, no big 27 bat except the Live Oak transfer (and as of this weekend , he has not been cleared by LHSSA ).

I can see them in Top 10 , but to many questions to be number 2.
Prairieville will effect STA for sure. But these first 2 years have had a much greater effect on Dutchtown. Almost all Prairieville’s 28 class would be at Dutchtown.
Dutchtown about to have some tough years for the first time in program history.
Tunnard was low 80’s his first start. Didn’t hear velo in second appearance. I hope you right and kid is 90’s and has a great season. Nothing worse than coming back from that injury. Pulling for him.
Dutchtown has Johnson how will touch 90. But who else is going to throw 90 on that staff? I don’t see it.
But they are a senior heavy team that should have a good year. Favorites to win district.

St George will have more of a positive effect on St Michael. It won’t hurt enrollment.

The team is so young. Basketball will hurt them to as they wait for one of their best players.

And their schedule will do them no favors. It is very difficult.
Ruston’s star Running Back is out for the playoffs. Not the same team that beat Neville.

St Michael does not charge students to get in home games of any sport.
Parents can buy a season pass. It’s pretty cheap and gets you in every home game , all sports.
