I read that the kick Sauber team only had 2 bottles of champagne at the track. Mercedes and Aston Martin sent their bottles over so the team could have a proper celebration. I thought that was cool of them.

Aged champagne for sure.
I'm sure cheap-arse HAAS still has the same champagne bottles they bought in 2016. Yea, I'm bitter at this point.
Super happy for Hulk though!

You have two podiums with a win in the last four races. Nothing to be bitter about!

Ha, while true, I thought I bombed those predictions and did well on the others.

V8 might be coming back
Ben Sulayem pushes V8 return for 2029, calls current engines too complex and costly:
— FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has reignited discussion over a potential return to V8 engines in Formula 1, targeting 2029 as a realistic window. Speaking to journalists at Silverstone, the Emirati leader criticised the cost and complexity of current hybrid units and suggested growing team support for the shift:
“The current engine is so complicated that you have no idea, and it is expensive.”
— Ben Sulayem believes returning to simpler, widely available engine types would help reduce spiraling development budgets and lower car weight, while enhancing fan enjoyment:
“Many manufacturers produce V8s for their cars, so commercially it would be a correct choice. For us the V8 is a reality. With the teams now I’m very optimistic about it.”
— He noted support from Formula One Management and hinted at alignment within the paddock. Highlighting the urgency, he said:
“We have to do it soon… it takes three years, so we hope that by 2029 there will be something.”
— The FIA chief also cautioned about costs beyond engine development, citing fuel and gearbox expenses:
“Fuel is also very expensive and we must be very careful about this aspect. And the transmissions are very expensive.”
— On the possibility of expanding the grid to 24 cars, Ben Sulayem was more reserved, referencing the backlash surrounding Cadillac’s entry bid:
“We are not here to make the other teams angry. We don’t want to do it so much for the sake of doing it… it must be worth it.”

Seems like he’s on his re-election campaign tour. V10s! V8s!? No wait, V12s I promise.

Wow, I seriously thought that was fake news. I guess this means Max definitely leaves

Probably helps his chances to stay imo. Verstappens have no been happy with Christian since all the shenanigans from last year. And he’s been at odds with Helmut.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Max.

Holy shite. Can’t say I was expecting that. Crazy.
ETA: hadn’t even read passed the headline that he had been fired that I was thinking to myself that the racing bulls were the better team etc and didn’t realize they’d already put Mekies in as team principal.

Wow horny spice is gone? Guess they’re trying to do everything they can to save Max.

I wasn't terribly impressed with Laurent Mekies at VCARB. Looks like they developed a good car, but man they made so many strategy mistakes the last few years. I wonder if he's just a fill-in as they look for someone with a better record as a team principal. Maybe Max suggested going after someone in particular?
OTOH Mekies has always been very positive about Yuki's talents when he was at VCARB. This may improve Yuki's chances of sticking with the team for next year, although he may not want to unless he's confident the next car will be easier to drive.

Horner won’t be unemployed for long.
