Interesting GQ article on the making of Brad Pitt's F1 movie. Hamilton became involved in the project after auditioning for a role in Top Gun: Maverick. Also some spoilers (beware) on why Pitt's character originally left F1 in the 90s.

going to be the same story we’ve gotten 1,000 times before, visuals look cool though.

Montreal way too far out forecast.....
50% rain and relatively hot this year.
Also chance of wildfire smoke.

All started because they gave away track position to put on the hards. I’ll never understand.
He was pumping 1:18.5 with those softs before the safety car, on the restart the fresh softs were putting in 1:16-1:17. He would have immediately gotten smoked by the mclarens and not too long the ferarri. I think it was a 50/50 call, but the narrative that he would have been fine on softs is weak.

Did Max have another set if used softs? Seems I heard that somewhere either during or after the race.
You are right the McLarens and likely Leclerc had him. They had to pass him, but that was at least a lap or two.
Max was a dead duck on the hards. Him lighting them up on at the Start/Finish just put the sealed the fate.
The only likely thing is that Max doesn't end up wheel to wheel with George in the manner he did and the turn 5 hit never happens.

Was I the only one that was put to sleep with the Spain race like I was with Monaco?
It was nice there was so many different teams in the top 10, unfortunately no Williams (my god they were slow and still suck in the pit), but man it just felt like a dud as well.
Also, I already thought it was kind of clear last year but it seems really clear now that Piastri is faster than Lando. Dude is a machine like Max.
And man grid walks without Martin Brundle are so lame. They are too scared to talk to celebrities and just go around with a "what's this bit on the car for".

Yes, very much so.

Merc saved the race from being a complete snoozer with the late safety car. I send my thanks to Merc PU engineers.

When this was announced a few years back, I was excited... As time has gone on, I have 0 interest in watching.
The amount of in your face F1 stuff has gotten tiresome (lego, clothing companies, movie, etc...)

Agreed.
That movie is basically a re-creation of the DRIVEN plot
We witnessed Peak F1 in around 2023...the Disney Licensing, Lego collab, movie etc are all the harbingers of oversaturation and the subsequent bubble bursting
Its become too frothy

the race

Lance Stroll looks to be on course to return to Formula 1 action at the Canadian Grand Prix, but a final decision is unlikely to be made until next week as he recovers from a wrist operation.

But it is understood that the early prognosis is promising and, should there be no unexpected complications, Stroll will almost certainly be able to race in Canada.

Good. Hope the backups can race LeMans instead.

Bottas making sure they know he is available

He’s a backup for the rest of the Merc powered teams already right?

A bit concerning though as a McLaren fan with Merc and Aston both having PU related failures lately.

I'd like to see Drugovich.
I think it looks bad when F2 champions are left behind while other F2 guys who never won a championship get to F1 in short order.

Yuki was on for the best year of his career with Racing Bulls this season. Instead he’s in a position where he might not have a seat next year.
The head to head between Yuki and hadjaar would have been very interesting to watch this season in the same car.

Just saw that if Bottas covers for Stroll next weekend he’s carrying a 5 place grid penalty for a collision with Mag last year
