I loved it and hated it all at the same time. That was pure cinema and NASCAR needed it. Chicken shite to the fullest but it’s RUBBIN.

I think this nails the evening perfectly.

Dillon crossed the invisible line that Denny referred to. But damn, the finish and the drama that's already spinning off of it is entertaining as hell.

The tragic ironies from this are that it will overshadow the prime/option tire discussion, and it was overall a solid race for Richmond before they likely lose a date next year.

Flame away, I have no issue with the bump of Logano, the move on Hamlin was madness, but while I have no use for Dillon I also find it hard to work up any sympathy for those two hypocritical barracudas and people are high fiving each other in Daytona Beach tonight over all this attention. But I think they’ll spank the doofus who was on the radio screaming wreck him for appearances’ sake.

Lots of mixed feelings.

Both Hamlin and Logano have wrecked others on last lap. Hell Hamlin wrecked Chase at this very track on last lap for the win

He 100% took him out. No question. Then took out Hamlin

Austin had the best car so that works too. Wrecky Stenhouse caused this carnage.

Last race at Richmond Hamlin cheated by leaving early and kept his win. So screw him

So, will Austin get a penalty and suspension? I recall Chase getting a race suspension for hooking Hamlin after Hamlin ran him up track into wall. Austin took out 2 race cars so it will be interesting what Nascar does.

And this win moves their DEI driver down rankings with higher chance of missing the chase. Nascar wants him in so bad for their DEI advertisements.

I don’t blame Austin he was not making chase any other way. And its big bucks for sponsors to make it in.

Logano is a big whiner. Love he got his own medicine back.

Nascar will have to do something but is helpless. If they make rules about bumping then races will be so dull.

Their only option is to take the win away and claim it was a dangerous move - and bumping/banging is still ok - but slamming a car and hooking another put them in dangerous spots.

They suspended other drivers for less so will they have the guts? If they use the safety aspect that allows them to not rule on bumping, to keep action.

Look at the points chase under old system. We would have a great ending to season without the chase.

The wreck tonight was solely caused because of the chase format. Without it I don’t think he wrecks Logano.

One more thought. Austin likely remembered how Logano raced him all night squeezing him low when trying to pass. Austin actually handled it well I thought and at one point backed off and regrouped. Then got back and passed him. But Joey raced him real hard for several laps and that almost cost Austin having chance to go catch Hamlin.

Not saying its true but Austin could claim the Hamlin hit was not intentional and his car was reacting from the Joey hit.

The wreck comment will get a big fine is my guess.

How did Denny finish 2nd in the race? Was the caution out from the 22 wreck?

Dillon winning was the last thing guys like Bubba and Chastain needed to see.

Just happened to catch the finish of this race.. first one in years.

That was awesome.

Listening to Hamlin and Logano complaining about Dillon "sending this sport backwards", they don't seem to understand that that might be the best possible thing to happen to NASCAR

My thing on GWCs is most have been controversial this year. Whether it’s Indy, Nashville, now Richmond… why not just call it at the finish?

You had fans complaining of finishes under the yellow. That lead to NASCAR going to GWC, now add in double file restarts and you get exactly the drama we saw last night. Austin was going to win and handily, but the wreak with 2 to go screwed it up. I have no issue with the finish as NASCAR loves it.

Oh I’m fully aware of why GWCs became a thing. This year they have been bad. More dramatic than good, in my opinion. Dillon was actually going to win on merit. But I can’t get behind that last lap. That’s not exciting to me. Had he not dumped Logano or Hamlin and won a drag race to the line…. That’s exciting. Wrecking two cars? Nah. Can’t get behind that.

So here’s my beef. They use scoring loop for placement during the race. But are supposed to use actual car position at time of caution on last lap, and use film to decide along with other data. At Dega and Daytona they used actual spots many times for last lap deciders. Why use loop on this?

Here’s the official finish order. My question is Lagano. How can he finish 19th if the caution came out? On last lap they are supposed to freeze field at yellow. No way that many cars got by.

I think they have a rule about maintaining caution speed to finish lap but again, thats during the race. I thought field was frozen on last lap wrecks? Maybe I’m wrong

I wonder where that scoring loop was because if we go just by when the yellow came out Hamlin was 3rd and a split second before that he was being right hooked into the wall as the leader.

The regular season title is really starting to heat up, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see it come down to Darlington. As crazy as it sounds looking at the AFP and Speedscores this year the remaining schedule favors the 9 and 45 who have both had better finishing positions to date at intermediates with an avg top 10 for those two including a win by the 9 and 2 top 5's in addition to the 45 that has been in the top5 in 5 of the 7 intermediates this year. The 5 only has 2 top5's over those races, but he won both. Between the race for that title and the race to get in a little further down the points table the next few weeks before the playoffs should be full of strategy calls that will either backfire or make some heroes.
