Turns out Corey didn’t say this.
I’m glad. Always liked him and thought that comment was not like him.

Still might need a butt kickin’. Haha

Maybe, but I’d like to see him switch cars with Bowman, Gibbs, etc. before agreeing.

A lowkey random caution would be good right about now

Hopefully the return of the Brickyard will be a little more entertaining

He had his opportunity last year when he was driving the 9 while Chase was hurt and did Jack shite.

He sucks.

Put Sam Mayer or Christian Eckes in the 7 and they’d perform better.

Great regular points battle. Since we have chase we miss out on much talk about this. They still award a reg season winner and they get like 15 chase points so its huge

NASCAR Cup Regular Season Standings

Chase Elliott
Kyle Larson -3
Tyler Reddick -15
Denny Hamlin -20
William Byron -57
Martin Truex -63
Ryan Blaney -76
Christopher Bell -87
Brad Keselowski -104
Alex Bowman -107

Kyle must win to get in. Lajoie took him out that was intentional. Chase got a race for hooking Hamlin will he get one too?

Looks like the 7 had a run coming down the long front stretch and tried to go to the inside and make the pass. The 8 made the block and the 7 went to fall back in line but the 8 let up more than anticipated because he was being squeezed the 14 and the 7 got just enough of the back end on the 8 to get him loose and send him up the banking.

I think he has talent, I just think he didn't anticipate the 8 to back out that much going into the corner and missed the blend. He does stuff I question from time to time, but honestly a lot of times it's awareness as far as not knowing everything around him and anticipating. I don't know if that is a Corey issue or if he might just have a spotter who isn't giving enough information.

I do find it weird how the group on here picks and chooses who is a hack or chokes. Last week it was the 45 who choked because he grazed a wall trying to do too much knowing he had to get to the spot by a certain time to take advantage of the 2 passing zones left at the time. However the 5 got a pass for missing a turn when he was the fastest car and the second fastest had wrecked out. The 7 is a no talent hack, but two weeks ago the 5 did the same thing and he was just being too aggressive. Not picking on the 5 intentionally, I like the 5 and think he is the best wheelman in the sport right now...not NASCAR, but in auto racing. That is my point. The arguable best current, inarguable top three current driver across motorsports makes mistakes in top 3 equipment any given week. It's understandable that guys with top 20 cars trying to get a top 15 or a top 10 car trying to get a top 5 or win might make a mistake as well.

Fair points.

I'll have to go back and watch the incident again. Maybe I'm being a little too harsh on Lajoie. I'll go back and look at it again, maybe you're right.

But I did hear Shrub's reaction afterwards and he was strangely ambivalent about the situation. Maybe he knows that it was his fault or that that's just the type of season it's been for him. Probably a combo of both IMO.

It’s often a lemming fest.

Denny and Chase do the same things from time to time, but one is beloved (“awe shucks”) and one is reviled.

Larson has a body of work that shows his talent and ability produce high quality results. LaJoie doesn’t have that. Granted LaJoie isn’t in the same equipment, but on the flip side LaJoie has never really demonstrated that he is worthy with full-time ride of a top level Cup team. I haven’t declared anyone else to be a no-talent hack.

I know it was a one-off event, but LaJoie really disappointed when he drove the 9 car in place of Chase Elliott last year. Seemed completely in over his head then.

Spire Motorsports is getting better and should continue to get better once Rodney Childers joins as LaJoie’s crew chief next year. That will be LaJoie’s chance to prove me wrong.

I think it’s becoming obvious that Lajoie’s cup days are on their last legs. I wouldn’t be surprised if Childers is reassigned to Hocevar for next season and Lajoie is let go after next season(I believe his contract is up after 2025?)

Childers is crew chiefing the 7 but they didn't say LaJoie. I'd imagine they will be paired for one season but if the playoffs aren't made the LaJoie will be reassigned.
