Sources: Tony Stewart is currently at the Stewart-Haas Racing shop telling employees that the team is shuttering at the end of the season. He's very emotional.

Jr buying a charter doesn't make sense unless he's buying two. Single car teams rarely make it now, he's going to need to find a partner willing to go in on a two car team.
He has expressed wanting Truex to partner with him whenever he goes Cup racing.
I'm a Truex fan, but I feel like he'd be more interested in being on a fishing boat than co-owning a team.

I can see this. Him and MTJ are very close friends and Junior did discover MTJ and helped get him started in the sport.

I think Gragson will find a ride for sure. Does Berry, Briscoe or Preece have any big sponsors they’d bring with them?

Berry probably so. Along w/bringing Childers along.
Briscoe and Preece are probably SOL unfortunately.

What a ho-hum lineup...

Briscoe to Wood Brothers
Gragson to Childress
Berry and Custer to Front Row
Riley Herbst to Rick Ware
Preece to obscurity

I put Preece and Briscoe up there with Austin Cindric in the “I sometimes forget they exist” list. Not joking, sometimes I’ll be watching a race and see them and think “oh yeah, completely forgot about them”.

A lot of conversations or opinions on whether or not Larson should get the wavier.
Logano’s response on TMD yesterday morning
Dale Jr’s opinion

I can understand Logano’s point of view and understand a lot of pov’s why he shouldn’t but Larson did bring a lot of positive attention to both NASCAR and Indy. Basically, if they don’t grant the wavier, we will never really see a driver doing the double again. A NASCAR driver like Larson doing the double has so much potential to bring in new fans to both sports. I just think NASCAR would make a huge mistake in not granting the waiver.

On the SHR shutdown, there’s another important point to consider beyond the presence (or lack thereof) of Tony Stewart and Gene Haas. SHR lost their two biggest sponsors after 2023: Anheuser-Busch and Smithfield. AB went to Trackhouse to sponsor Chastain and Smithfield left the sport.

Crazy scenario #563
Have the series race opposite weekends all year with the best drivers from each series crossing over.
Crown an overall champion.
Double up weekends with both series at Indy road course, Sonoma, Iowa, and Talladega
Add Ford and Toyota to Indy and Honda to Nascar.

With AB (my opinion), I think they would have stayed on if Harvick didn’t retire. When Harvick retired, I think it was an opportunity for them to move to another team that they could sponsor and be associated with a playoff caliber driver/team. Not knocking Berry but I think he was a little overhyped in some aspects.
Smithfield left because of the strong ties to Almirola. I think that is the only reason SHR kept Almirola for so long. Smithfield said they will leave once Almirola left. They were never strongly committed to SHR.

Briscoe to Wood Brothers
I think that is where he ends up. I think he is a talented driver and has shown he can win and have very solid runs. Other option is Front Row (if they can’t get anyone else) or possibly RFK if they decide to get the 4th charter.
quote:
Gragson to Childress
I think that would be a great fit but it depends on if RCR decides on buying another charter (similar to RFK). Gragson already has a great relationship with Bass Pro. So does RCR. Trackhouse would be another great option but would they rather give that seat to SVG? Front Row could be in the mix also.

Berry and Custer to Front Row
I don’t see Custer getting a ride over Briscoe. I’ll be surprised if Custer has a cup seat next year unless if is for a small team.Berry would be a solid option for Front Row but what sponsers could he bring? Other options is if RFK, JTG, RCR, or Legacy bought a charter.

I wouldn't put Briscoe in the same conversation as Preece or Cindric.
For all the praise directed at Gragson this year, Briscoe has been SHR's most consistent performer, and the only one regularly hanging in the playoff spots. He's also the last SHR driver to advance in the playoffs. He should have a ride next year.

Lol. HMS/Larson knew they’d get the waiver before they even tried the double. Nascar isn’t stupid, they got lots of press. And HMS sponsored the car.
Its all just space filler (any talk of him not getting it). Chase was suspended a race last year and got it. Chase was out for non racing injury and got it. Bowman was hurt and got it.
0% chance he doesn’t get it and long time fans know this. The only way he doesn’t get it is if he never asks for it.
Nascar would lose any future big name other series potential drivers if they denied it.

Front Row Motorsports announces it has obtained a charter (doesn't specifically say SHR but the timing isn't a coincidence) to expand to three Cup teams next year. Drivers TBD (Todd Gilliland is expected to be one of the three). It also said it will continue its truck program.

With SHR on the way out, Front Row Motorsports will now be equal with Penske as the two largest Ford teams. FRM also has direct support from Ford now, so I would think this will get them even more support. Probably a smart move.
I could see at least one of the SHR drivers landing at FRM.
