Even though Tony is 100% into NHRA, his name still carries weight in Nascar and I’d find it hard to believe he’d give all that up.
He may have come to the realization that he was spinning too many plates at this point in his life.
Like you said, he's all-in on NHRA now. Throw in being married, trying to start a family, the poor on-track results, and Gene evidently being completely checked out. Tony probably figures he doesn't have the time or energy to make it worthwhile anymore.

True. And they did him dirty not bringing trucks to Eldora.
I wonder if Andretti could pull off a double here? Buy both F1 and Nascar SHR entries?

Just confirming the inevitable.
SHR shuttering was a fait accompli at this point.

Now that is interesting and plausible. I can see Dale Jr buy two of the charters as a possibility.

Junior has said in the past that he doesn't have the money to purchase a charter.

Junior has the money. He just isn’t gonna spend it

I read charters are worth around $20m. So they gain $80m selling those. Plus cars and other equipment.
No wonder Harvick left got out just in time.
And with that money Stewart could prolly buy NHRA as the owner (ala Penski in Indycar). Also, Stewart runs Mopar in NHRA so this divests him from Ford association.

RFK could buy a charter plus get Rodney Childers. That would be my guess. They are hitting their stride after a few years of rebuilding.

That statement repeatedly touches on the commitment aspect. It sucks, but that's all it boils down to.
Tony's and Gene's priorities lie elsewhere, and simply signing the checks and having others run the show clearly wasn't enough.

God bless him. One of the greatest people on the planet, but that man sounds like he struggles with the consequences of spending 5 extra dollars at the car wash sometimes.

Jr said he wouldn't buy a charter at the 40 million price tag. If SHR is selling at 20 million I think he as to look at it. But with the new agreement from NASCAR not in place it does seem risky.

Nascar teams are not terribly profitable, if not money losers.
Hasn't Junior talked about this before? Why the hell would he be a buyer?
Frankly, why would anyone be a buyer...

So what you are saying is that he's a cheap bastard.
Or frugal.

As an unabashed Smoke fan, today hurts.
But it's good to see that he still obviously cares.

You don't become rich by not valuing the worth of a dollar
Jr buying a charter doesn't make sense unless he's buying two. Single car teams rarely make it now, he's going to need to find a partner willing to go in on a two car team. And honestly, once he decides he is ready to move up NASCAR should just give him 2 charters for free because of how good it will be for the sport to have the MPD back in Cup
