Maybe its been discussed, but idk why Dodge wouldn't want to put a Charger or Challenger out there against the Camaros and Mustangs. I know they are kind of a dysfunctional company though, so there might be other stuff going on there
Dodge has stopped making both the Charger and the Challenger, so they don’t really have a car to put out there.

So let's say Honda joins NASCAR. NASCAR awards 4 new charters. Increases the field size to 43 again. Chip Ganassi returns to field a two car team. What other teams are likely to join a 4th OEM? I can see Stewart-Haas since they're kinda stuck. But I can also see them sticking with Ford because Tony and Gene want to stick with an American OEM.
It wouldn’t any major team initially. I think it could start off similar like Toyota did. I could see a mid field team like Front Row switching or a similar team switching. I don’t think it would ever happen because they are Ford’s top team, but Penske could be a wildcard.

Not sure why the pretense anymore. Manufacturing real cars stopped existing years ago.
I say, let's build Richard Petty something that resembles the SuperBird and turn him loose.

shite, when did that happen?

I could see someone like Spire through their Andretti connections. Maybe Kaulig or JTG.
Toyota has 8 cars. Ford has 14. Chevy has 14. 4th OEM will take from Ford and Chevy. Give us a more even number of each manufacturer.

2023 was the last year for both.

That sucks.
Shows how tight on money that series is right now.

If F1 can be international why can't NASCAR?

NASCAR was built on brand loyalty.
If you are a Chevy owner/fan, you want to see any Chevy win (even if it isn't your driver) over a Ford or Toyota. It may not be as true today as it was in NASCAR's glory days when the catch phrase was "win on Sunday, sell on Monday," but there is still brand loyalty there.
Even though they are no longer "showroom model" cars, you can still recognize the bodytypes as what you see on the street - Camaro, Mustang, Camry. How many of those models are sold in international markets, and how many people in Europe are brand loyal to the manufacturer and the body style? F1 works because the cars are the same design and look and nothing like you see on the street, just manufacturer specific engines.

Thanks for the response.

Good clip from Dale Jr.’s podcast today where he discusses how he misses the Clash being at Daytona, how it was a great appetizer to the Daytona 500, and how much he misses having a true “Daytona Speedweeks.”
YouTube
Of course, even if it were to go back to Daytona at some point, the Super Bowl being a week later than it used to be has messed up having the Clash held the weekend before the Daytona 500. In order to get that back, the Daytona 500 would need to be a week later (fun fact: it has been a week later before).

It's funny how other sports always want to expand, while NASCAR and F1 aggressively keep newcomers out.

@FS1 got 1.511 million viewers for Saturday night's Busch Light Clash, down from the first two editions that were held on Sundays on @FoxTV (2022: 4.283 million viewers | 2023: 3.647 million viewers).

I’m sure the race getting moved to Saturday night on short notice impacted ratings (even though NASCAR made the right decision), but there does seem to be a general consensus in the NASCAR community that having the Clash at the Coliseum is starting to get stale.

Let's go ahead and get playoff predictions out the way. I've got the following for the 16 spots.
Chastain
Larson
Keselowski
Busch
Elliott
Hamlin
Blaney
Buescher
Truex
Bell
Logano
Wallace
Byron
Reddick
Gibbs
Suarez
My next 5:
Bowman
McDowell
Stenhouse
Jones
Briscoe
Bowman has struggled to find consistency, and time will tell if he's healthy.
Both McDowell and Stenhouse lost prime opportunities in the schedule to win races. In McDowell's case, 2 races!
Jones and Legacy will make strides this year, but it may be a year early.
Briscoe will be the best Haas car this year. I don't think it will be enough.

I’m still not sold on Gibbs and Suarez. I would take them out.
Bowman is in too good of a call to be left out. He was injured last year and when he did come back, I don’t think he was completely 100%. I would add him
Berry would be my final pick. He takes over the best car in the SHR stable and has Childers as his crew chief.

Gibbs has too good of a car. The 4th Gibbs car is better than the 4th Hendrick car.
If Suarez can shake the bad luck, he will be fine. Far too often things out of his control wrecked his races. Getting taken out. Pit crew. Power Steering wrecked what would've been a top 8 playoff appearance in 22. He's gotta prove it. I think he does.

I agree. Bowman seems slept on this preseason. No wins last year, but he started on pole at Daytona, had 5 top 10s in the first 6 races, and if I recall, he briefly had the points lead.
The points penalty after Richmond, and then obviously the injury, derailed everything. But if he's back to 100%, I could see him having a strong season.

I like Berry, but I'm less optimistic about this, even with Childers.
Hearing Tony on Sirius XM get all defensive and say he's sick of getting blamed for everything gives little faith in any of SHR's teams right now.

Bowman has not been healthy either of the last two years. 2021 seemed very feast or famine, but you don't back your way into 4 wins. He can drive, but there are a lot more unknowns with him. He can return to 2021 form, or last year becomes more of the norm.

Frankie Muniz running Xfinity race. Malcolm in the middle of 3 wide. How many times will they say that?
