Saudi Aramco was originally just Aramco, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Standard Oil of Califonia (HQ San Francisco), which later became Chevron.
You don’t believe this is why they are the most valuable oil company? Right?

Stolen from OT... Williams does their part management in excel

The Williams car build workbook, with roughly 20,000 individual parts, was "a joke," Vowles recently told The Race. "Impossible to navigate and impossible to update." This colossal Excel file lacked information on how much each of those parts cost and the time it took to produce them, along with whether the parts were already on order. Prioritizing one car section over another, from manufacture through inspection, was impossible, Vowles suggested.
"When you start tracking now hundreds of thousands of components through your organization moving around, an Excel spreadsheet is useless," Vowles told The Race. Because of the multiple states each part could be in—ordered, backordered, inspected, returned—humans are often left to work out the details. "And once you start putting that level of complexity in, which is where modern Formula 1 is, the Excel spreadsheet falls over, and humans fall over. And that's exactly where we are."

To be fair, Excel can do anything well if you know what you’re doing.

I guess the reason Williams was late to testing is that they were still using VLOOKUP and hadn't moved to XLOOKUP. Or they hadn't discovered INDEX MATCH.
Side note, practice is tonight for the Aussie GP.

Right. Sure, Excel is not ideal for this, but it's more than perfectly capable. This screams of "we don't know how to use Excel so let's spend half a million dollars implementing Windchill instead".

First thought is that he's seen what a high level of sustained success looks like and using a maybe not a wrong tool, but an unoptimized PLM tool isn't a great move for efficiency.
Second thought was what software company with a PLM offering is a sponsor
Would be a total F1 principal move to plug a sponsor like that.

I'll be so glad when this SJW is gone from the grid.
Pissed he's going to be at Ferrari for two years.
*I think they will regret it. Not only due to his skills fading but because his far left rhetoric will turn off a large number of Ferrari buyers. And Elkann has said they are going to fully support him in is leftist projects.

I honestly hope he wins 2 more WDCs and becomes even more annoying.

Let’s be honest. FIA prez is not likable and very money hungry. He’s milking every dollar out of F1 that’s possible. I’m no Lewis fan but he’s correct here. Ben S doesn’t deserve any of our backing.

but its not meant to be a database, this isn't surprising, but also shocking.
I should get a job at Willams, I can definitely improve their FP&A

Albon has damaged the chassis of his Williams quite badly in FP1. Williams does not have a spare chassis at the track. If it can't be repaired over night the team has to decide who will get the only car left for the race. Engine and gearbox also damaged.
