I'm still laughing about the fact Max ran most of a lap on three tires, made an extra pitstop, and still finished in front of Perez.
It's pretty clear that Sargeant (all time bad), Stroll, and Perez are the three worst drivers on the grid. I mean Perez is no longer even competitive now that he has to race cars that are getting close to being as fast as the car that he is in.
I'm assuming blueboy(?) hasn't showed up lately die hard defending Perez.

I don't think checo is bad. He's just not good. He's decidedly middle of the road. Always has been. Always will be.

Does anyone have any idea where Sainz is going to land next year?

With the way the Mercedes is trending I'd be looking to maybe jump in there. Car is looking fast.

Supposedly he can pick from Williams, Alpine or Sauber but Williams is getting fed up with how long he's taking to choose. You guys probably have a better feel than I do for what would be the best opportunity for him.

He has been pretty terrible of late

Is Sainz delaying his decision in hopes of an offer from Mercedes?
Is that probably his best option?

I thought he had an offer from Mercedes early on. It was a 2 year deal or 1+1 and he wanted a more long term offer. Might be misremembering tho

I was bored and just re-watched the fun laps from the race. Man, the F1TV crew was so much better than Sky this past weekend. F1TV was hypes as frick from the moment Max had the slow stop until the VSC came out. Kudos to that crew.
A couple other thoughts:
-Max comes over the radio and says, "He's just dive-bombing. That's not how you pass." Okay, Max. Pot meet kettle.
-I don't quite agree with Norris' track limits penalty after rewatching it. Max's moves made Norris go off track and then Norris immediately gives the position back. I don't think that should count as a track limits penalty.

I like Max, think he's a hell of a driver, and yes, Lando was being aggressive, but that incident was on Max.
Max's double moves to block off Lando pushed Lando to start getting more aggressive with the dive bombs (which Max does himself).
Max should have given up the place on the last lap, since he regained the lead off the track
Its clear Lando was riding the outside line going into the turn and Max slid over to box him out and initiated the contact.

Any better explanation of how he lost his 7+ second lead after his 3 second slower pit stop?
I saw the slow stop and McLaren’s wasn’t that fast but he still should have had a 4 second lead and run back off into the distance it seems.

Max was complaining that something was up with his car and GP was trying to get him to change settings. I don't know if it was a diff setting or what, but he was complaining of lack of rear grip. Lando had 3-lap newer tires, so that may have helped get him closer before the tire offset evened out after a few laps. Max also lost about a second from that lockup on T4.

Believe Lando was on a new set of Mediums while Max's were used

Good points for sure. Went from a snooze fest to a banger in a hurry. Hope British GP is good as well.

New floor this weekend for Haas along with Bearman being announced tomorrow as a Haas driver. He's running FP1 as well.
It's been reported that after simulator work Sainz is recommending Ferrari run the previous floor at Silverstone.

Great, new blood! So does this help KMag's chances to stay with the team, or is there another veteran seen as more likely to take the other seat?

Autosport with the savage take on Perez.

Posted on 7/3/24 at 10:04 pm to TouchedTheAxeIn82
From an article I read today
Sergio Pérez season averages
Qualifying result: 7.3 average
Qualifying differential: 5.6 places behind Verstappen (rank: 20th)
Time differential: 0.486 seconds behind Verstappen (rank: 20th)
Race result: 4.6 average
Race differential: 2.9 places behind Verstappen (rank: 19th)
Points: 119 points behind Verstappen (outscored 2.01:1; rank: 17th)
For reference, his race differential to Verstappen is better than only Logan Sargeant’s 4.17 places to Alex Albon.
Only Sargeant (scoreless), Lance Stroll (2.41:1) and Kevin Magnussen (2.80:1) are outscored by their teammates at a higher rate.
It’s bad. But it gets worse.
Perez’s form downturn in the last five rounds has been dire, with Austria just the latest chapter in his 2024 decline.
Sergio Pérez averages, last five rounds
Qualifying result: 12.2 average
Qualifying differential: 9.8 places behind Verstappen (rank: 20th)
Time differential: 0.737 seconds behind Verstappen (rank: 20th)
Race result: 7.7 average
Race differential: 3.2 places behind Verstappen (rank: 20th)
Points: 86 points behind Verstappen (outscored 6.74:1; rank: 19th)
Only the scoreless Sargeant has prevented Pérez from sweeping all last-place differential rankings over the last five rounds.
He’s being left behind on the points table too, which will sting mostly keenly in Red Bull Racing’s constructors title defence.
Points scored in the last five rounds
1. Max Verstappen: 101 points
2. George Russell: 74 points
3. Lando Norris: 73 points
4. Oscar Piastri: 71 points
5. Lewis Hamilton: 58 points
6. Charles Leclerc: 52 points
7. Carlos Sainz: 52 points
8. Sergio Pérez: 15 points
12. Daniel Ricciardo: 6 points

Ocon has been linked to the other Haas seat.
I won't be surprised if Sainz ends up in it. Not predicting it, but it's possible although apparently Flavio is going after him.
