Good morning, everyone.
If you could attend one, would you prefer the Spanish or Monaco Grand Prix?
I would like to see some good racing action, but also experience the spectacle of a big race. I am aware of the extravagance and expense of the Monaco Grand Prix and the traveling delays associated with its Spanish counterpart. My primary goal is to simply see some fast cars stopping suddenly and overtaking one another.

Do not compute
Plus the Spanish Grand Prix is in Barcelona and isn’t a street circuit so win win
Edit: if I had a massive yacht and just wanted to sit next to the race and party while not actually watching the race then Monaco would be the way to go

I'd much rather go to Barcelona unless you have true FU money.

I do not have FU money so I think I will go to Barcelona.

VA Buckeye and I were in Barcelona last year. It was my first race and I'm now a lifer. Was amazing watching these machines move and the sound is what I wasn't prepared for.
Hotel Arts is where the teams stay and where I was staying as well. Great people watching.

If you're even considering Monaco I'm going to assume you're financially stable enough to consider my answer....
Go to both
They're only 1 week apart on the schedule. I'd love to go to Monaco to see the spectacle of all of it, but you really won't see good racing. Barcelona usually has good racing and I've been told tickets aren't terribly priced, but logistics is a nightmare.

I feel like at this point they’re going to continue to raise prices each year until they see a drop in attendance. We went to COTA in 2021, our entire trip, turn 12 tickets, hotel downtown, food/drinks, all of it, was about $2500. I priced the same hotel and same tickets for 2023, that same experience would now cost ~$6000. No thanks.
I was recently listening to a business podcast that was doing a deep dive on F1. They note that F1 has approx. 450 million fans/viewers worldwide. That's second only to Premier League as far as worldwide viewers. 450 million people is a huge market, and demand is not likely to fall below supply anytime soon. Expect costlier and costlier grand prixs for a while.

Going to both races, or maybe a qualifying session and then a race, is in the cards too.

If that's an option I'd say do quali in Monaco because that's really the highlight of the weekend, get out of town Sunday ahead of the circus, then catch the race in Barcelona.
I told my wife a while back when we're rich we'll spend a summer in Europe, chasing F1 around and catching parts of the Tour de France.

If you go to Catalunya get in a covered grandstand. That region can get insanely hot. We sat in the main grandstand last year and enjoyed it. I also got to meet Mr. Blutasrki and hang out with him on the VIP side as well. Monaco is more of a spectacle than it is for racing although I would love to cross it off my list.
The bus system to and from the race is what it is but I will say that by raceday the organizers had addressed their errors and getting out was much easier on Sunday than it was on Saturday.

Curious about y’all’s opinion.
How many drivers right now do you think would win the WDC with the objectively best car on the grid?

Leclerc’s retirement in Bahrain was due to the energy store and control electronics, the parts that were replaced before the race. Both are not recoverable. Charles has already taken 2/2 of each. If he takes any more, he’ll have to take a 10-place penalty (per component).

If they didn't have a teammate as well?
Perez could win a title, but not if he had to race VER, HAM, RUS, NOR, ALO, GAS, and maybe BOT, OCO, STR.
Giving the best car only limits your competition to one other person.

Has anyone here sat in Z1 in Monaco or general admission or Sections C or G in Catalunya?

The main grandstand in Catalunya.

Yep. Trying to maximize our time. Not sure if I want to drop $1,600+ on main grandstand tickets tho
Sections L, G, and C in Catalunya look great.
Did y'all sneak booze in student section style or what?

I love being done with all day to go.
It’s the time when I’m awake and my wife is still asleep. Love the Saturday/Sunday routine of getting the race/quali in peace then getting on with the rest of my day.
It will probably change this season though, since I have a 1mo old. Hoping he and I can watch while Mama sleeps in, we’ll see how cooperative he is.

IMO the following could win it with the fastest car.
VER
LEC
HAM
ALO
