Just watched post game, I dont know if I can handle a soft, touchy-feely Alonso this season.

Alonso on team radio:

"This is a lovely car to drive."

I liked his comment after passing Sainz;

"Yes! Bye bye!"

Anyone told him yet that Stroll was the one that hit him?

This is where Alonso realizes who hit him.

For those that don’t speak Spanish, he was telling Checo that someone hit him at the start

At 0:08, ALO says “who touched me? Hamilton? Ah no, it’s Lance… (dead silence) and George touched me as well”

I can't fricking wait until he's had enough with Lance. I'm sure as soon as the last paycheck from Papa Stroll clears the bank, his mouth with flop open. We all know that grace is not his strongest character trait.

As long as Lance doesn't get in his way he will keep playing the team sport.

Have no doubt he will burn the team to the ground eventually.

Wow look at the difference what they pay F1 compared to nascar! So even if they only get half the viewers nascar does thats a steal!

Today will be @ESPN's first F1 race where @MothersPolish is not the presenting sponsor since it picked rights back up in 2018; @MercedesBenzUSA will now sponsor it.

ESPN pays F1 about 10% of what NBC/Fox pay NASCAR, making the economics of commercial-free coverage far easier.

I’d be interested to know how the commercial free model works in the UK. I’m assuming a premium is paid for F1 and the EPL, both of which only have commercials as bookends or halftime of EPL. If they can make money I don’t see why NASCAR needs commercials every 5 minutes.

Maybe I'm biased but the leadup to lights out at any F1 race just seems 100x more exciting then even the daytona 500 and I grew up watching nascar. Now it's like oh they are at that cookie cutter track again today, anyway....

The F1 presentation is very slick. I watched some IndyCar today and their presentation felt like the Great Value version.

Not a great showing for De Vries this weekend so far compared to his stellar outing last year.
I figured his race last year was a bit misleading.

The Williams might have been a shitbox, but it had rapid straight line speed and he got to drive it at the Temple of Speed.

Now he’s in an Alpha Tauri for a full season…

Looking at my picks, initially it looks like I'm off with McLaren at 5th overall, though it's way too early to tell. Lando was actually pretty fast after his 32nd pit stop. But I root against Zack Brown so if I'm off on that pick I won't be mad.

I think I might be right with having Haas 8th, I just can't really ever buy in to what they are doing. I like both drivers but they aren't great. When you have an average to below average car with possibly below drivers, it's not going to be pretty pretty.

Freaking Ferrari. Looks like they are going to drive me nuts again.

I think I had Checco finishing 4th or 5th, I'll have to go back and look. That one is the one pick I think I can already say I'm probably off on. Those cars are just too freaking fast. Last year it was like no matter where Max started, you knew he was going to win. If this is any indication, it might turn out to be no matter where Checco starts, he's going to be on the podium.

I was pretty impressed with Lance Stroll. Got to give him props, he ran a good race.

George Russell's already taking a defeatist approach to the season...

quote:

“Red Bull have got this championship sewn up,” Russell told media including RaceFans. "I don’t think anybody’s going to be fighting with them this year and I expect them to win.

“They should win every single race this season is my bet. With the performance they’ve got, I don’t see anybody challenging. They’ve got it easy at the moment, they can do what they like.”

I mean, he isn't wrong. This will look like Merc 2015-2017. The race for 2nd in the WCC is all to look at.

I read those comments as typical whiny F1 stuff.

But that doesn't mean he's wrong. Unfortunately, i think is going to be an incredibly boring season. It's just hard to get excited about watching teams fight for 2-4 when this is the pinnacle of motorsports.

Haas is just a tease. The hook us in qualifying sessions but then quickly fall behind during normal race conditions. I know Nico had a damaged front wing and all but it just doesn't seem like they have race pace.

Williams were a bit surprising.

George is such a twat. I don’t think I’ve ever used that word to describe someone until him.
