Formula Netflix loves Danny Ric
very mediocre driver.

He's stood at the top of the podium 8 times, and been on the other levels of the podium 24 other times. All with three different trams. I'd rate that better than a mediocre career.

For me this is a very fun story for the rest of the season. Here are the scenarios as I see it:
Danny
1. Danny and Yuki are evenly matched the rest of the year in qualy and race performance. Consequence: I think Yuki's profile is raised (for some reason Horner and Marko have already been pretty positive towards him), and this ends Danny's dream of finishing his career at Red Bull. If Perez stays at Red Bull next year, Yuki remains as the senior driver at AT and they bring Lawson to fill the 2nd seat. If Perez gets canned, Yuki moves up and Danny is the senior driver at AT with Lawson in the 2nd seat.
2. Danny consistently outperforms Yuki in qualy and the races. Consequence: If Perez gets canned, Danny moves up and Yuki remains as the senior driver at AT with Lawson in the 2nd seat. If Perez stays, Danny is the senior driver at AT, Yuki is let go and Lawson gets the 2nd seat.
3. Yuki consistently outperforms Danny in qualy and the races. Consequence: Danny's F1 career is over. If Perez gets canned Yuki moves up, and AT might have two seats to fill (Lawson and ???). If Perez stays, Yuki has to wait but might have more options outside of the Red Bull family.
As you can see, I am in favor of Red Bull moving on from either of these drivers if they underperform the rest of the season. Danny is old and has had many opportunities in F1, and Yuki was given three full seasons to prove himself. Bring in new talent!

FWIW, Horner has said Checo is the driver for 2024 and any driver is competing for 2025.
Lawson is owed a seat in 2025.
Red Bull might be feeling out what move Yuki wants to make with/without Honda.

I have a hard time seeing LeClerc take a #2 spot. But even more so imo Red Bull just isn't going to let someone legitimately compete with Ma
If Max decides to pursue other interests, makes sense to have a top tier #2

Yeah, if checo keeps messing up on quali and Daniel shows out in the AT, we will see a change next year. RBR does not sit still.
Really like this driver line up for Haas. Hope they keep it.

HUL has driven very well.
MAG has done probably about all he can do.
The HAAS car just snacks on tires, especially in dirty air.

If F1 keeps the current 2026 rule changes, he very well may leave F1 at the end of 2025.
Especially if he wins the 2023, 2024, and 2025 driver championships.

Danny Yuki
Personally I'm not sold on Yuki even being that fast. I mean I know his car sucks, but there's not many races where I've thought "Man Yuki is doing pretty good today." Seems like Red Bull would want someone that is overachieving for what they're given. Checco is second in points and the only other driver to win a race this season.

I have the same feeling. With Lando and Albon, occasionally we get the impression they have achieved more with their car than can be reasonably expected. We've never really gotten that impression with Yuki. And that's why I am so looking forward to this teammate battle the rest of the season. I'm basing this on Horner, Marko, and Tost all being publicly positive on Yuki, and the progress he's made in reliability and consistency.
Marko says Yuki is "underestimated." Now we get to find out.

That response also points to the notion that the switch was made to get a clearer idea of just how far Tsunoda has come as a driver. Tsunoda has fared much better than De Vries this season — out-qualifying him in seven of the ten races and scoring the only points for the team — but is that a factor of his growth, or De Vries’ struggles?
This response from Marko also points to that question: “It remains to be seen how Ricciardo will hold up against Tsunoda. I think Yuki is underestimated by a lot of people. The AlphaTauri is a difficult car to drive, but Yuki has proven that it is possible to get good results with it.”

I guess F1 laid the blueprint. Tennis has a show now and the celebrity worship at Wimbledon was nauseating.

Imagine gatekeeping a sport and not wanting it to grow because you don’t like how new fans were exposed to it. So stupid
