I think this will be a test for Yuki much like what Haas did for Mick last season. You couldn't really tell anything in 2021 because the car was completely trash and Mazepin was even more worthless. Whereas last year you got to compare Mick against a solid though not top driver in KMag.

I started watching F1 last season because of Drive to Survive.
I haven't advocated for changing any F1 tradition, nor are my opinions, which are only asserted on this anonymous message board and to the three F1 fans I know personally, considered by F1 or its partners or affiliates whatsoever.
Why would someone gatekeep F1 fandom then? It makes no sense.
Congratulations for watching F1 longer than me, I reckon.

What's funny about shitting on the DTS crowd, like myself, is that everyone I know who watched DTS and got in to F1 all became nerds about F1 that watch all the sessions, absorb all the content, hate all the gimmicky shite, and worship RocketPoweredMohawk

DTS is one of the best things to happen to F1 in a long time. It has brought casual fans as well as technical fans.
Only downside is you almost have to watch the races live because avoiding the media and talk is almost impossible now.
Liberty is trying to make money, and seemingly doing well. Hopefully they know when enough is enough, but they have grown the sport a ton so far.

When NBCSports had it ESPN wouldn't even have the winner as a bottomline scroll. Could watch it Monday or Tuesday after work without fear of seeing a news article or reading something even here.
There was almost no social media because Bernie thought it was for poors and they would go after anyone even using the logo. Liberty deserves a lot of credit for opening all that up.

It also helps they have turned themselves into a quasi cartel/monopoly with the latest Concorde Agreement.
It is damn near impossible to create any new team with how the rules and buy-in are set up. $200MM that you have to give away, plus build a car. It was said a decade ago that a new ground up team would have to spend over a billion dollars to get its first race win. Can't imagine that cost now.

I can remember torrenting races in college. I honestly have no idea how there were American fans before the advent of high speed internet, and I'm including all of the Americas.
Without DTS and Covid, I doubt I'd have ever come back to watching F1 after not watching it for a decade.

It's been on US tv since 1984. It was on Speedvision (later Speed) channel for quite a while after ESPN dropped it.

I hope Yuki does well. He started the year with some consistent results (11-11-10-10-11). He has been struggling since Monaco though. (15-12-14-19-16).
