I think the Oilers are on the verge of breaking through. If I had to pick today, I'd take them coming out of the West. They lack the depth of the Avs, but they are really hitting on all cylinders. Of course, with Manson and Makar and Landeskog and Lekhonen back that could change. In my mind Makar is the second best player in the NHL so his impact is known, Landeskog is the leader, Artturi scores the big goals, but damn I miss that nasty Manson defense. That's what the Avs need, that full blueline back.

The Oilers are looking like the old CCCP Red Army team right now. Their only blemish in the last month is a 4-3 OT loss to the VGK or they'd already be tops in the West. Stuart Skinner has given up just 3 goals in his last 4 starts.

Tomorrow a big night in the Eastern Conference. We will find out if we get Canes/ Rangers with Canes home ice or Devils/Rangers with Devils with home ice. I’ll be at game 1 in Raleigh no matter the opponent. Nothing like playoff hockey live!

This is classic. Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice. Even gets a Coors Light mention in there.

As a former Thrashers fan, I am really enjoying the fact that Chipman and TNSE are openly saying they need more support from Winnipeg, and hinting that the team isn't solid financially from a gate receipt standpoint.

I'm not a fan of relocation. But there would be some poetic justice if the Jets were moved in the near future. Arrogance and hubris during that relocation saga would come home to roost.

all the playoff teams are set. Seeding and division titles are still in play though, with two days left in the regular season.

buffalo sabres continue their streak of not making the playoffs.

jonathan huberdeau of CAL sets NHL record for largest point drop from one season to the next. 115 in FLA last year to 55 with CAL this year.

Columbus, Anaheim, Chicago still fighting to reach 60 points

this is skewed by the Covid Play-in bubble deal, but still counts

The Ducks and Sharks were Western Conference mainstays for almost two decades. Weird to see both of those clubs in playoff droughts.

Avs the only playoff team to go back to back tonight and tomorrow, I'm guessing bc of that cancelled Preds game from the fall.

Still fighting for the division, so can't really rest guys and I hope it doesn't bite them in first round.

Even weirder to see the Wings have the 2nd longest drought in the league. That rebuild sure is taking a while.

Sure as hell hurts to lose Landeskog for the entire season. Team announced this afternoon that Gabe won’t play in the postseason either.

Very disappointing and also worrisome for his career future considering this was supposed to be “routine”

Only plus is they’ve played without him all year so it’s not like any recent production lost

Absolutely, especially since this dates all the way back to the cut in the bubble.

This screams more to me that he’s going to keep rehabbing, but there’s a real chance later this summer/early fall that he retires.

The Avs would be okay, but it would be a MASSIVE loss - obviously.

EDIT: his press conference he just gave makes me think he’s hopeful he can return, but that there is some writing on the wall and a real chance if things don’t go perfectly that him lifting the Cup will be the last time he takes the ice in a NHL game.

The Red Wings shocked me.
