Now we just need Nashville to do their part tomorrow in regulation, highly doubtful though

Knights beat Kraken 3-1, win the the Pacific Division and the #1 seed in the West.

Knights face Winnipeg in the first round, with Edmonton facing the Kings and the Kraken facing either Dallas or Colorado.

Doesn’t have to be in regulation, Dallas has more regulation Ws than Colorado. Colorado needs the two points in any fashion.

It’s a tough back-to-back for the Avs. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the gas tank at E, especially when they looked mostly lifeless last night already.

EDIT: Don’t forget that Cogliano and Malgin are both likely out as well, plus Makar still. The fact that the Avs are in this position with all of the injuries is absolute insanity, but eventually (and as a fan) it feels like it’s going to catch up on them.

Yeah this has the feeling of a first or second round exit just based on how much they've had to scrap with injuries to be in this position. Unless Makar, Manson, etc are close to 100% starting the playoffs I wonder how fresh can Mikko, Nate, Georgie, Toews really be

They've only lost 3 times in the last 20 games to climb back up the standings

Reminds me of that season where Hejduk got 50 goals and Avs somehow won the division on last day of the regular season but were upset by Minnesota in the first round

Exactly my thoughts as well. I was thinking that a Landeskog (and Makar and Manson and Helm lol) return could give us a spark to make a run, but these guys have to be running on fumes.

It sounds like Makar and Manson will be good for G1, but now Cogliano and Malgin are hurt.

The season has been complete shite for the Avalanche with injuries, but they’ve fought through it. Probably doesn’t work out when there are 16 wins more needed against the best teams in the league. Fully expecting a first round upset or second round loss to DAL (who I think wins the Central and the Avs lose outright tonight).

Avs are buzzing tonight at the start. Let’s see if that continues through the game.

Waaaay better 5 minutes than they played all of last night.

My first round predictions

Bruins - duh
Leafs - it’s the year TB just doesn’t have it unless Vasi goes nuts
Rangers - experience from last year wins out
Islanders - Sorokin steals the series bc Canes can’t score enough, lots of OT

Avalanche - will be a grind and easily could go 7
Stars - physical series
Knights
Oilers - should have less trouble with LA than last year even though both teams are improved

kane and eichel played on shorty teams. Tuch, dahlin, Thompson, skinner, power, Levi

There is a team there and it’s a bunch of kids.

Even weirder to see the Wings have the 2nd longest drought in the league. That rebuild sure is taking a while.

Yeah, and it does make me laugh a bit (being a Wings fan) 7 years prior, didn't they make it 23 years prior? I remember watching it at a bar in Florida with my late father. It went right down to the last game of the season.
