What exactly did JGR do? I have not looked it up and you guys can explain it in terms I can somewhat understand. I am not a car guy, I just like watching the races.

They used some strips of "helicopter tape" in some strategic places under the wrap around some openings to smooth some spots out to increase their aero. More or less my understanding is they used the tape to round off some of the rougher spots in regards to aero. Seeing how the JGR and 23XI teams have been running over the past several weeks after being virtually non-existent for large parts of the year I'm going to guess this has been done several times. I would also bet it's better than 50/50 that CB did the same thing last weekend.

Yeah they went from average to wicked fast in a hurry. Gonna be interesting to see how they perform the next few weeks. If they take a step back I think we all know that means they’ve been doing this the last several races.

Yeah, that's a bit dramatic. Some points would be fine. It's NASCAR, there's always been cheating. It's just what it is.
The only way I could see a team being disqualified for the playoffs is if they repeat the violation or did something that severely violated the rule book on purpose. Even then, I don’t know if NASCAR would go that far. I could see something like the team getting deducted majority of their points and starting with the minimal amount.

Honestly, I just thought they were getting hot over the last few races. Teams get in that hot/cold spells. It will be interesting to see how they run over the next few weeks.

This is from a poster on another board, a dedicated racing board. My response to him was “mic drop.” I would think he wouldn’t mind me sharing his take.
“When it's a spec part, and you're only allowed to wrap it with a certain thickness of wrap, and only one layer, not two, as has been caught before, it's black and white. Taking the win and 2nd place away is a disservice to the fans, for sure, but they made it clear early in the year with RFK to not mess with the body panels. These teams were so accustomed to "bending the rules" (cheating their asses off) for so many years that now they have to be beaten into submission. This is the sandbox they have chosen to play in, but the big cats from the Daytona offices have come to drop some tootsie rolls in the sand.”

I think making both team ineligible is a bit too much.
I don't. Nascar pulled this crap with Chad Knaus and Jimmy Johnson a few years back when they monkeyed with the finders at Sonoma. They subtracted a few drivers points during the season, but JJ had such a big points lead going into the playoffs it didn't matter. Johnson STILL won the championship. So what was the penalty?

That and the crew chief sitting at home for a month.

Nice find. The kid is a great driver.
But that's gonna trigger some people on here.

Team Hezeberg (27 car) is bringing a second car this weekend for former F1 driver Danil Kvyat. Will be interesting to see how he performs.

There was a rules change or clarification that came out after the NH race about this specific thing. They have had people "Hendrick" doing things with the wraps before. But the rule came out last week before Pocono about adding to the bodies for aerodynamic purposes.
They also said that the tear off tabs for the windshield had to be lined up in a specific area because some teams were playing with that.
Here is a good Twitter thread discussing it. Bozi is a great follow to keep up with the tech side of the sport

It's Indy weekend? Time for a snoozefest. Maybe the new cars will be better. We can only hope.

You know they moved to the road course and it's been a pretty competitive race. Like last year when Briscoe and Hamlin were going at it and Dinger got the win?!

Wow McDowells team just got hammered
Loss of 100 drivers points, 100 owners points, 10 playoff points and crew chief suspended 4 races for “modifying a supplied part”.

Where is the 11/18 fines? They only lost 50ish points compared to this and Keslowski?
Also, is nastycar trying to dock so many to get Bubba a better chance of making playoffs somehow?
