Pretty cool course finish today.

Powless attacked. Why not? It's my birthday. Still a good finish.

Why are you posting things a day late? Just go ahead and post it as is. The people in the thread generally know what has happened and that way they can tell if they want to watch the recording, most have already watched it. I am not sure but Saturday and Sunday should shake some stuff out. I guess the bigger fish are going to wait until the Pyrenees to get the engines firing.

Because a lot of people record it and watch it later. Spoilers were posted last year and there were a lot of complaints so I have stated a few times in this thread that I will wait 24 hours to post full results. If the majority want me to post the results the day of, then I will do that. Y'all can decide.

Most if not all the updates the past few years were in real time, I do not remember any complaints actually. I recall most got updates on here then decided whether to watch. Also, since it is September this year it is a little different. We always seemed to post the updates in the thread then later that day posted on title page.

Ok. I’ll start keeping it up to date starting tomorrow.
I don’t feel like editing today

Take Jeffrey Hoogland for example. Classicly built track sprinter at 6' 1" and 214 pounds. He put out 2000w while setting the 200m TT record. Now, this is a much longer sprint than Ewan's but Caleb produced his peak after a relatively fast tempo 194 km with three 3rd cat climbs and a 4th cat climb.

Hoogland's output was 20.56 watts per kg
Ewan's output was 23.93 watts per kg

ewan can be sky/ineos's new GC contender! put him on a starvation diet and send him into the mountains!

joking aside, i remember reading somewhere that is what sky/ineos did with riders like wiggins, froome, and thomas. take track or time trial guys with high power to weight ratios and put them on starvation diets so that they can compete in the mountains. well that, and the cynical use of TUEs.

I personally think the "Grenadiers" (shows how cocky they are right there..but I ain't mad)have had saddle shock in this first week in that they look reallly flat. I'm sure they will go full 'Ineos/Sky' and look invincible in week 3 right on cue...but something seems off with them this year, including Bernal. I'm also expecting a lot of other teams to have GC riders peak at the exact same time. This is a VERY interesting year, as it is in every sport, since there is no guarantee they make it to Paris. Every single second counts this year and that alone makes it quite exciting. Oh yea, The World frickin Championship is a week later this year!!

Welp, I was 100% wrong. I thought they would keep the pace too high to ever let a breakaway get more than 2-3 minutes much less over 7.

It's an odd tour year and sports year in general..no shame. Thanks for contributing so much in here.

Side note: OP updated for Stage 6/current day as requested and results will be posted the day of now and I will also include the daily top 25 GC standings as well.
First time ever doing an updating sports thread on here but having a blast so any other suggestions are welcome
"Rest n' Test" Day #1 coming up soon for the peloton, so hopefully negative tests throughout so we can keep on going!

I have been talking about the test day and praying the Tour doesn't get cut short but something just hit me.

Stage 8 has the most potential of the three stages left before the rest day to impact the GC. Even this hard mountain stage does not have a mountain top finish and the HC climb has a long descent before the last climb (1st Cat) which also has a descent into the finish. Not only is JA usually extremely tenacious about holding onto the yellow jersey but he is possibly the best descender in the field AND he showed he had legs left at the end of today.

Given this could you imagine if he has lost no more time by the end of stage 9 then the tour ends on the rest day? He would literally have lost the tour because he was thirsty 2.5km too late.

The problem is when the thread title is changed to include a spoiler like "Jefevve Wins State 8; Gragine in Yellow" or the like.

Folks can't easily avoid seeing that before watching the recorded race. But anyone should know not to read the contents of the thread until they have watched.
