The difference in coverage is astounding when it's back to back like this. They've already shown more golf shots in the first 5 minutes of ESPN taking back over than they did in the first hour CBS was in control.

Part of the reason the pros play for the huge purses is the dollars advertising brings in. If you want to watch pro golf without ads it's going to be an expensive pay per view.

The “Eye on the Course” thing CBS does and other networks is one the biggest mutually benefit advancements in ad revenue and viewership. Viewers are more likely to stick around if it goes to a split box and advertisers know those eye balls are top dollar, so they’re willing to pay.
